This makes me happy :) :

Best Fanta ....in the world!

Quote

An Australian study has conclusively confirmed Fanta produced in Malawi is the best Fanta in the world. A consumer preference test conducted this week at the University of Western Australia found 77% of consumers picked Malawian Fanta as their favourite. Participants of mixed sexes, ages, and nationalities were blinded i.e. they did not know which samples were for which product.

They were each given five set of cups and were asked to fill in a questionnaire that asked them to rate on a scale of 1-5 – colour, taste, fizz, and preference of Australian plastic bottled Fanta, South African canned Fanta, Malawian glass bottled Fanta, Malawian plastic bottled Fanta, and Australian Sunkist. Participants were asked to rinse their mouths with water in between tastings to avoid taste contamination.

Participants were surprised when it was revealed that over 50% of them had chosen Malawian plastic bottled Fanta as the most enjoyable followed by 25% who choose Malawian glass bottled Fanta and then Sunkist in third place. The worst Fanta was South African canned Fanta.

TRIVIA!

Did you know the Fanta originated from Germany when they could not find the products for Coca Cola during the World War.

Fanta comes from the German world Fantasie – imagination.

Different countries have different Fanta formulas

The orange juice proportions may vary in different countries – Australia 5% , Brazil 10%, USA no orange juice!
Some countries use corn syrup and others use real sugar.
Someone once told me the local hardness (mineral content) of the water can also affect the taste of the soft drink.
In the interest of fairness and disclosure I should state the study limitations. It was a small sample of nine people (that’s why I stated the results in percentages), but nine people who nonetheless had very discerning taste buds. The study was conducted by yours truly who is biased in favour of Malawian glass bottled Fanta. The Malawian glass bottled Fanta was transported in a horizontal position, in a suitcase, in a pressurized air cabin and had lost its fizz by the time of its arrival, this may have adversely affected its taste.

But no matter how small the study was, Malawian Fanta is the best in the world. Thank you Southern Bottlers Limited (SOBO) Malawi! Although personally, Fanta Passion also made in Malawi is my favourite. What is your favourite flavour?

SOBO is awesome. believe it.

finally something else Malawi can be known for other than
madonna taking away them kids...

What an awful survey.

The container the soda comes in has a big effect on the experience.

Lets take coca-cola, which is my favorite soda, I can rate my enjoyment of that product like this.

The water-sirup mixture you get in a paper cup in the cinemas, etc. - Coke in a glass bottle - coke in a can - coke from those giant 2 liter bottles.

The taste doesn't actually change from receptacle to receptacle but the production of and interaction with the product and its texture has a big effect.

Not to facture in the fact that they only tried 5 different nations. In china fanta is probably made from children's tears, giving it a much smoother taste.

Not technically true. Shape of container does have an effect on the taste of fizzy drinks (including beer, champagne, soft drinks) because the surface area/volume ratio dictates the amount of bubbles passing through the liquid, affecting the taste. Which is why different beer companies want their drinks served in their own, very specifically designed glasses.

The difference isn't very big, but it is there :)

Also, I discovered yesterday that aussies expect orange fanta to actually be orange, instead of the much more usual anaemic yellow shade. So they clearly don't know what they're talking about!

Ah yes, I have actually heard of that. That is probably the reason why I like the glass bottle coke so much.

The good thing about cans is that they always seem colder than their plastic or glass cousins. Just taking one of the shelf in a supermarket they will already feel refrigerated.

They feel colder to your hand yea...but thats not where it counts.

What i also find about cans is that the liquid get warm faster as the heat from your hands is transferred just about instantaneously through the tin.

and drinking straight from the can leaves that metallic/glue taste....bleergh...

Fanta should most definitely be orange. That test sounds stupid.... why would a university fund such a study? My guess is is some weird PhD topic. All I know is I prefer Aussie Fanta to the British version :)

fanta isn't a great drink. cherry lucozade, fizzy vimto, cherryade, american cream soda and a feezing cold canned diet coke are good drinks that i enjoy. i love the fizzy drinks, the other week i went through 2 and a half litres a day. i am shaking my head at fanta enthusiasts.

The UK version changed in the last few years, and is now shit. Or at least, the canned version is awful, whereas the 2l bottles and on-tap versions are still excellent. Spanish Fanta is dreadful.
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

i used to prefer normal coke. but now i think it tastes too sweet, and the diet is great as long as it is freezing cold. anything other than ice cold it isn't worth it with cans!!

I totally understand now why Americans are fat, and ridiculed.

We have 3 liter bottles as well. 2 liters arent that big, as we get individual one liters that most people drink in a single sitting. Very thought provoking.

This thread has just reminded me that when i go home to Ireland for Christmas, I'll be able to have TANORA again, a tangerine flavoured fizzy drink. Tanora is a bit of an anomaly in that it seems to only be known of in the south of Ireland, and barely outside of Munster for that matter. I can't think of another fizzy drink that is so localised in Ireland? I'm not even sure you can buy it in sizes larger than a 330ml can either??

As for this thread, I personally find Fanta way too sweet.

Fanta in Canada sucks, :)

unless it is imported.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.
