It's a predictable ending that i'm fearing... FAs stretch themselves fixing England, dicth their physical bodies, build an engine to help maintain coherence and go live as the shiny energy beings we've seen during the upgrade flashes the end.

And i don't mind a slow boil, but for the last five eps or so we've had more panels of water retreating than anything else.

Apparently Freakangels will be ending on issue 144. http://www.youtube.c...feature=related at 1.50 something.

Slightly, but still looks to be going in the 'and they all turned into cuddly balls of energy and disappeared' territory.

Yeah. interesting that Arkady could do this, already, though.

Other than Transmetropolitan, has Warren Ellis ended anything gracefully? I think he's spread himself so thin creatively that when he gets bored with the initial concept, he staggers along until it's put out of its misery.

Transmetropolitan is also something I'm not entirely crediting to him, as Hunter had made it quite clear how he would go out when he went out (which was three years after Trans ended).

Planetary ended quite well, and the flaws in it were down to the timing issues between him and Cassaday rather than Ellis getting bored. And his run on Stormwatch to reboot it into the Authority ended well imo.

He clearly gets bored quick though, which is why so much of his work is one or two volumes.

I'm not sure what you mean by the Transmet comment though, because

I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Planetary was rushed throughout its entire arc for whatever reasons, but it was a decent ending and much better than what we're getting with Freakangels.

As for Transmet:

Planetary had a solid ending, possibly exactly the right one for that series.

Global Frequency didn't really have a start or an end but as a body of work it's pretty awesome.

And Ellis' original 12 issue run of The Authority is pretty much a perfect big ka-boom comics run.

All or which is to say, i expected more from the FA ending but so far it's not delivering.

One grin does not mean everything is ok. Think about it in terms of Hunter.

Those fucking strawberries. Every time. I don't know why but it's the most god damn endearing thing. I don't know how but the artist manages to catch complete bliss in one picture.

I fault your spelling. And the lacklustre ending.

The story ended up not really going anywhere. Shame. I wanted "scanners" type of combat with the American army.

Okay, just read the very last entry. Yeah, I don't really know how the final chapter could have sucked more.

When I think of it, the essential story was about the Freakangels coming to terms with their powers, reuniting and fixing their mistake. That's a decent story, but the ending is terrible in its pacing and hits the wrong notes for me.

Yow.
