Anyone going to give Stray a try? It's pulling in some good reviews.

I'm definitely playing it. But as slow as it takes me to get through games, i've probably got another month of Elden Ring. Then Tiny Tinas. It'll be a winter game for me.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

It's $30 when I checked. I guess that could be considered steep for a short game, but it's not AAA $60 price range.
I would be playing it on a PlayStation 4 if I decide to go for it. I'm curious to know if there are quality improvements when playing Stray on the PS5. I've read the the PS5 controller really enhances the game play (something you don't get on a PS4). Might be a game I wait to play when I get a PS5. Like SB I'm still playing through previous games (HFW and ER). So waiting won't be a problem, and price will be lower more than likely. Then again, I might just go ahead and grab it.

Waiting to see if it pops up on GOG in a few months.
I'm trying to bank a bit of money, because there's a few games I wanna pick up in August (Thymesia and Spiderman), and then there's a whole deluge of titles in September, both long-awaited indie releases I've already demoed, and a bunch of AA euro-jank goodness.

Are you signed up to get email from PlayStation? I've had invitations to buy a PS5 directly from Sony three times now since the console was introduced. First time was spring of 2021. I have another invitation I haven't opened in my inbox as I type this. Two times I went through the steps to actually have the console and peripherals in the store cart, but never finished the process. So it's not a scam or a tease, its legit. Check you spam filter for the emails or reverse the opt out the emails deal if you did that previously.

I got invited once, had an error that lasted all day every time I tried to complete the transaction. Finally I got to a next step, and was told it was sold out.

I would wait it out, in the UK it's pretty easy to get them atm at retail price so supply must be improving.

Thanks champ, I now have a sams club memebership I will likely never use again but I used a Groupon to get the membership and now I have a ps5!
Was a bundle but decent value. Ps5 disc, horizon, two controllers, a controlller charging stand and 100 dollars for the ps5 store

Anyone play a video game called Cult of the Lamb? I've read some interesting reviews about it and it sounds like it would be right up my alley.

Playing it right now.
Cult of the Lamb is an occult murder cult management game with a power puff girls aesthetic. It's gruesome in a cute kind of way.
I find myself being a little frustrated by having to both manage the followers of my cult while also having to go on my crusades. Those little bastards are constantly creating dissent or complaining that I don't feed them enough.
It's getting easier as I unlock new upgrades, buildings and dark rituals though, which is a part of the design of course.

My brain is jello when my son is here. Years of nothing but fucking Fortnite and GTA5 or Red Dead Redemption. I’m sick of this shit. He loves horror movies. My new plan today is to talk him into Resident Evil though I doubt this will result in anything but wasted $ if he does as I don’t think these games have any online features.

Oh snap we went through all the trailers of the games and 7 looks fantastic even to me and I ain’t a huge horror fan unless October is here. Sure looks like this game takes place in Louisiana to. Maybe not though as idk what kind of world these games take place on.

Some announcements/events this week. Destiny 2 showcase with details about the new season. Season of the Haunted was a big meh and boring imo. Hopefully something cool is coming. As with the other elementals - Void and Solar - Arc 3.0 is supposed to be announed, so that will be worth checking out. I anticipate it will be tied into a story/narrative they give us with the new season.
More broadly Gamescon deal starts this week. Geoff Keighley hosting. I hope there is some meat to carve with this one.

Finally got round to control. I am enjoying it. Very good job of creating a spooky and horro atmosphere without having the gameplay of a typical survival horror shooter. No worries about saving that last two rounds of ammo.
Is this the face of current sci-fi/paranormal fiction. I read more fantasy than sci-fi or horror but I can’t help but see similarities to the Laundry files. The paranormal is different frequencies/vibrations etc.

Control's world building and themes is based on a popular internet community, called SCP - Secure, Contain, Protect.
https://scp-wiki.wik....com/scp-series
The site is centered around telling stories about weird phenomena and mystical objects stored by a secret government agency.
Basically it's Creepy pasta in the form of Xfiles containment procedures.

I have seen that in 9gag I think.
Well I guess that still answers my question, this kind of paranormal fiction is becoming mainstream.

I am not sure why I missed it but a fellow hot sauce aficionado has turned me onto FTL. I may pick it up if I ever have spare funds again.
