Thanks, Tap, I love the critique. I am pretty happy with how I designed it, but I think several elements were somewhat reactionary to spycraft. We had lots of night actions in Spycraft and I didn't like copying them much so I tried to use a lot that weren't used often (swapping, extra/less/double/no votes).
I also am firmly aware of what I said about BPs, but decided to see what would happen if you give 3 players (one from each time) full protection. How would players adapt to it? Would they hammer away thinking it was a 1-time use?
The number of protection mechanics is a large part of why I have so many rogue characters in the game. Essentially, it's town vs scum. Town has a lot of power and the numbers, but should things not go their way (as they haven't much this game), the extra factions could throw their weight around a bit.
Hope you had fun, Tapper. Sorry you had to go so early, but someone has to go ;(

I have no qualms whatsoever with any of the mechanics, the swapping and redirecting is awesome and I really like the course you took here - this is a great game. The immunity adds a lot of spice and I personally love it.
Oh, and don't worry about the fun - I had a blast

Two words for you, Ment: Moderator fail.
I used my first post for all of my ability notes and didn't have it listed there. I feel pretty bad, so I'm sorry =(
Kind of funny, I think you killed me on a moderator fail back in my second game (Vampires:TM) and I got all huffy. So you have a right to get angry with me =(

heh
my plan for this game was ot lay low, and survive till the end where my double vote could actually cause an upset.
it worked well, except I didn't account that ppl may redirect hits at me...

other thought: isn't Gwynn playing in this game? props to them (unless they are dead), as I haven't seen a single person stand out to me as noticeably inexperienced!
I suppose I will take some solace from that (moreso than from being the sadistic schoolgirl for certain).
I think the part of the problem town is having is not anticipating the extra factions/indies. With the number of players merely trying to survive to the end game, town is left with a large number of players trying to lay low and no reason to see why this is so. If everyone were to realise how many independents there are, their play may be different.
At least losing me is losing the weakest role at this point, and now I can concentrate on my age of chaos game for the next week.

Well part of it is 1) Dibs imploded and 2) You lynched another Deadly Viper. On top of that, the town has generally feasted upon each other in terms of abilities, suspicions, and whatnot. The reason there are so many indies still around is they are playing a much safer game, since each one is essentially playing for themselves.
However, the indies aren't gonna speak up any time soon, I suspect. So even if town goes down more, the indies are gonna play townish, on thread.

the one thing that SHOULD have been changed, imho, is that townies should all know who Bill is.
a certain degree of coordination was necessary, and knowing who Bill is (but not being able to reveal on the penalty of a modkill) would be a great asset.

See I heavily considered that, but the moment you have a player make a case against him, they are outed as being outside of the town. That could be a potentially huge problem for a serial killer or indie.

Kind of an odd way to play, really... trying to force a slip up. I'd say GK should be focused more on himself rather than his enemies.

Baudin is wisely catching on... interesting thing is that Kalse is basically unlynchable right now. Obviously he doesn't know he's unkillable, too, but at some point it should become apparent that the best person to target for the shift is going to be someone that is unlynchable.
Bent's really torn on how to reveal the information he has from the message mixups (oh Tapper, you cad, look at the trouble you've caused

I've been thinkin about it a little. I rate say you received a message from him - dont mention his role or the cereal thing. Sorrit hasnt mentioned Bill by name yet, so that might weaken any sort of case he made against you. If he does bring it up, say you couldn't be 100% sure it was actually from an inno and would rather have drawn the NK if it was a false message. I think be as sparse on info as you can be for now other than "Sorrit is probably innocent". Hopefully Kalse will sort the whole thing out. Absolute worst case I can bail you out. You didnt vote Sorrit yesterday did you?
D, on 14 December 2009 - 07:32 PM, said:
That is good play. See what Sorrit says - if he goes with Kalse's story then do the same. If they havent figured by now that you're not scum that should definitely seal the deal. Does anyone in the game know that Pai Mei is the assassin?
Like are they able to put that character with that role?
Just wondering if down the line i need to claim a role if i can actually claim my own.
I could spin it that I am Pai Mei and I want the Bride dead for being an insolent Western Woman. Hoping I never have to do this.. but if I am cornered i need to know if I can claim my role with out someone going " You are admitting Pai mei???" you are the assassin!!"
Dead thread is dead... wish more people were on and talking. I think i am just gonna start spamming it up Now that sorrit and Kalse are CI'd not sure if I should kill sorrit.. or let the bride do that while I look for her.
Thinking the Bride team is fener, shadow mockra..with the possibility that shadow is a viper. Think he is my next kill.

Have you seen the movies at all?
Most people in this game have assumed so far that Pai Mei would be associated with the Bride's team, because he's a guy that trained and mentored her. He's actually dead in the movies, you see him in flashbacks to the past. He is not likely to be a rogue agent, as I have made him in this game (I just did it for shits and giggles).

Also, put the BP on you again tonight, just in case.
There are 9 unknowns, of which three or four are likely scum. If we survive along with Kalse and Sorrit until tomorrow, then might be a good time to use our vigs, depending on how many die.
I dont really have any feel for any of the others. Fener, GL and Lio all ping vaguely as scum, but there's nothing definitive. HP and Alkend's response to Sorrit's reveal seem a bit like they're trying to push the easy lynch, but considering two people could back up Sorrit's claim that probably isnt the case.

Thursday is contemplating a coulda woulda shoulda scenario for outing scum, but doesn't realize not a single message has found its way to Kalse (which is why Kalse rubbished the reveal).
He then sends out a monster message to Bill.
Baudin could be in trouble coming up because currently, Gavin has no action that is going to block this message from (finally) reaching Kalse, and Baudin's next on the chopping Elle's chopping block! Unless his night action changes to kill Elle tonight (I don't see that as likely), Alkend may trade swords with Sorrit tomorrow night!
Sorrit, on 14 December 2009 - 11:40 PM, said:
Hmm, I wish Kalse hadn't rubbished my reveal there - the fact that he can talk to me shows that I am an important character, whereas the fact that I can talk to him doesn't show people anything they don't already know. Plus, I had been hoping that Karatallid would back up my reveal so I could be sure he was on our side. The trap was all set for Karatallid to rubbish my reveal if he was scum in the hope of getting me lynched, only for Kalse to step in and save the day...
Ah well, maybe I should have informed Kalse of my plan last night.

Here's my message for Kalse (oops, I mean Bill) on Night 4. It's a bit longer than my previous ones, hope the length is OK.
-----------------------
Hey,
Not sure we handled that quite so well - by saying you can send messages to me, that implies that I am an important player, whereas the other way round only shows that you are an important player, which the scum already know. Plus I wanted Karatallid to confirm the reveal so I could be a bit surer of his allegiance - if he'd tried to break cover and denied my claim, you could have joined forces with me to bring him down. Ah well, all water under the bridge now.
Going forwards, I think Alkend is a bit suspicious, can't quite put my finger on it, but he seems especially anxious for any and all information pertaining to reveals. I don't really have all that much of a read on most people though, which is a bit worrying.
I don't know how often you can vig - I can do it every other night. Which means it's important that for Night 5, we know who each other are targetting. Unless Alkend gets lynched, I will target him on that night. If he does, then I will target Galayn Lord.
I'm hoping you tell me who you're planning to kill over the next few nights in your next message. If you don't, then signal this in the following manner. Write down a list of the alts left in the game at the start of Day 5, and then use the numeral (for example, 6) of your intended target for Night 5 in one of your first three posts of the day.
We also need some kind of code word to denote a change of plans. If you think my choices are a bad idea, then mention an alternative target in a sentence starting with "As a matter of fact, ..." If I decide to change my mind, I will signal this to you in a similar manner (If you think that's too common a phrase, say so tomorrow night). If I want to suggest a change in who you are targetting, I will start a sentence with "I've been wondering about ...", mentioning an alternative.
Anyhow, that's enough complicated codes for now, hopefully these will allow us to communicate intent a bit better so we don't both end up targetting the same person like we did on Night 3.
