I'm done with 3 of the 4 Blight quests right now, gonna start the dwarf one sometime this weekend. Level 18 main character...right now I'm kinda disappointed. I wanted to make a dps-based mage, so I went with blood mage...then, of course, all 3 other specs are useless as far as magic dps goes. I don't even have any big nukes other than, sorta, sleep + horror combo which doesn't always work.

Blood mage isn't supposed to put you on the high DPS route (though it would be nice if they were a bit more clear on what 'a large amount of xx damage' means)- not even with both blood magic enhancing items (a ring and a robe from the Soldier's Peak DLC) and everything you can find to increase spirit damage - BM is more about control, since the AoE spell 'paralyzes' (but not for the purpose of backstabs and the like) its victims and the 4th one does whatever it does (I used it like 3 times ever) and deals not-much damage.

To make a high dps mage (one that doesn't operate with a helper mage anyhow) you kinda need to focus on Primal magics to get the Storm of the Century combo

Or use Virulent bomb + heavy spirit damage enhancements and hope none of your characters are near it when it goes off. (I killed Alistair and Sten and half a dozen darkspawn with one exploded Alpha once) Trickiest to use probably, but far and away the most powerful damage dealing spell.

finished with me rogue. very impressed, though the last battle dragged a bit. absolutely great game, going to play through cod before it try again as a complete and utter bastard charcter :)

I beat it with a human fighter, and playing as an elven mage now as well... but my elf is good and bisexual - gonna score Allistair (for achievement's sake) and then switch to Leliana :w00t:. my warrior was evil-ish.

I didn't finish it with my warrior, I swtiched to a mage instead. I kinda felt that if you weren't playing as the mage, you either had to take Wynne (Nice but dull) or do something wierd with Morrigan's abilities. Warriors and rogues seem better facilitated by the other party members.

Got my new pc! :w00t: They brought it -thank you!- on the first day of my 2-week vacation. And while outside the rain is falling, DA runs smooth as a baby's bottom on my precious monster, with all the graphic settings up. And Mass Effect finally runs like it should as well. :w00t:

Ah Mass Effect - I still my old PC when that came out, so I had to play it on Xbox instead... now I've got this sodding Blood Dragon armour that's apparently going to work in Mass Effect 2. And Mass Effect 2 let's you use your saved games from ME1... so now I've got to buy it on PC as well and finish it there too.

Still.. there's wore games to have to replay!

I've got Athlon64 3000+, 2 GB RAM (low frequency tho), a terrible motherboard, and a GF8800 GT, and I've had this combo (excluding 1 gig of RAM and the GF) for about 3,5 years now... and Mass Effect ran pretty good on medium/high settings... tho it tended to crash a tonne. Dragon Age runs pretty smoothly (medium settings, no anti-aliasing) but loading times tend to pile up a lot. the funny part is that when I exit and re run the game it's sort of "cleared" and goes back to normal... however, strange thing, with my second playthrough the loading times seem to stay stable. odd, really.

in my mage playthrough I've just finished the Circle Tower, sided with the mages this time... I upped combat difficulty back to normal on this playthrough (had to tone down to easy on my warrior, was getting my ass handed to me badly and I wanted to rush to the ending without spending much thought on every fight) but it feels a LOT easier than on my warrior playthrough on Easy. I'm keeping Allistair, Wynne and Leliana in the party now, and god, it's so easy now. my mage is specialising in Primal, and a combo of several of these AoE spells, when done right, takes care of a lot real good real quick. fireball, inferno + tempest on archer clusters, shock and the fire cone at the right angle to not fry Allistair, then keep throwing lightning, winter's grasp and arcane bolt around until it's time to loot... Allistair doesn't have Taunt yet (next level probably) so things tend to get a bit hectic with my mage's health if stuff doesn't die fast, tho. Leliana is great for opening locks, pecking stuff full of arrows and the bard songs, and Wynne is AWESOME support and healing (why I went for this part first after Lothering). I'm done for today, and wondering now where to go next. I could get my blood mage bonus if I went for Redcliffe + Ashes, or maybe try and go do them elves differently than last time and side with the werewolves and not ending the curse. I'm just wondering if that gives me werewolf support for the last offensive?

There's no way to get werewolves, sadly. You're stuck with the near-useless elves no matter which of the three paths you try. (though they might have only been useless cause I called them in to fight a half dozen ogre alphas and stood back, watching them get thrown around)

Did anyone else have an empty army support slot in the final battle? I wonder if I missed an ally somewhere that's optional. I got the elves, dwarves, mages, redcliff humans, and templars. Is there a hidden ally out there?
