Well, being out there again with "regular" people changed my point of view, really... these are folk I can't get to watch The Wire, let alone more obscure stuff, so I got quite used to nobody knowing wth am I talking about :twoguns: ah well

Saw DREDD again this afternoon.

Watched Cabin in the Woods last night.

I enjoyed it. Wasn't quite as great as I was hoping from reading people's excitement hear, but it was still pretty good. Might have set my expectations too high.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I'm gonna rewatch it some time this week cuz my sisters didn't get to see it. It's probably my favorite movie of the year, it hit all the right buttons for me. My favorite scene in anything this year was:

I just watched it too, lead to it by this thread. It was relatively good, to be honest. Nothing spectacular, but for old style action horror it does splendidly, I guess. Never was a fan of the genre, though.

Hotel Transylvania - 8.5 batwingin' vampires out of 10 (A minus for those you who need a letter grade).

This is destined to be a Halloween classic. Excellently realized monsters, passable story and it really did get laughs at regular intervals from everyone in the movie theater.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

couldnt be worse than the 20 hours of auction shows on bbc 1 and 2 we get in the uk.

have seen both let me in and let the right one in, and though the swedish one is better, the american one was better than i expected and had some very good cinematography in it.

NBC is banking on its new firefighter drama, Chicago Fire, and it looks absolutely awful. I'd prefer a 50th season of Law & Order.

By far the best part is what WW mentioned.
By far the worst part was the stoner guy. He was so f'ing annoying in the first half of the movie.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Saw ARGO tonight. REALLY excellent film! I only knew smatterings of stuff about the Iran hostages thing.

Oh and Affleck's direction is absolutely spot on perfect.

I was enormously enjoyed by Seven Psychopaths. It's like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang meshed with Pulp Fiction. And they turned the Christopher Walken up to 11 without making him a caricature of himself.

McDonough is a force if he can keep the In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths form going. This movie is just something else.

Must have missed both of those movies (In Bruges, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) but I'll definitely check them out. Pulp Fiction might be my top favorite movie ever, so I can't believe I missed these two. Plus the newest one looks sick, too.

Reservoir Dogs, True Romance, etc..
I like those type of movies best.
