Just watched Taxi Driver for the first time ever, somehow. It was good. It suffered from overhyping though, I've heard for the past 20 years it's the best movie ever. It was good, but not the best ever.

Agree about Juno and Sweeny Todd.

Eastern Promises was pretty good. The Russian mafia thing was a nice change of pace from the italians, and Russian culture fascinates me.

Saw Awakenings today too. Good stuff, gets pretty sad.

Need some more good movies to add to my Amazon DVD rental list. Any ideas? I have been browsing a couple of the pages here, but I can't be bothered to read back through tons of chat about it. :p

Don't rent "In the Name of the King" I watched it with friends last night because the video store didn't have "Heavy Metal". The only redeeming thing about that movie was the fact that as cynical gamers we kept making gaming jokes about the whole thing.

Is that the Jason Stathom movie about... dungeon seige I think? If so, I heard it was horrible, and not horribly good like the evil dead movies.

Yes it is that movie, and yes it is bad and not in a good way.

Comments started off like this:

"Man that's one hot looking peasant woman."
"Well she's signed her death warrant."
"Wait you forget the golden rule in bad hero movies, the boobs always survive"

After that point the wife had been renamed Boobs.

"What... Is that Ron Perlman?"
"You mean Hellboy?"
"Yeah."
"Yes it is."
"What the fuck is he doing in this film?"

"Man she doesn't look so good"
"She needs a remedy... A long hard remedy, from Ray Liotta"
"That was disturbing"

"Hey isn't that Blood Rayne, stripper climbing down the vine?"
"Yep"
"Wait are all the rangers women?"
"It would appear so and they're manhating valkyrie rangers."

"The orcs are look like they're wearing solidified shit for armour."

"The tactics of the orcs are stupid, charging up a dirt slope in a rainstorm, all the humans have to do is hold position and... So I give the humans two minutes before they charge like morons."
"There we go"

"Dude, are those ninjas?"
"Yes"

"Burt Reynolds is the king..."
"I weep"

"Did he just pick up a chick in an orc dungeon?"

So what you are saying is pick up the movie, get some alchohal, and pull a MST3K on it?

Basicly, though any mood altering substances will do.

So, I got M. Night Shymalalandnjasifvpdiuhfdg's new film, The Happening, spoiled for me by a video marked New Trailer. It was exactly what I was expecting to happen just from watching the first trailer. WHAT A TWEEST is losing any remaining touch he may have had.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

OK then, DW I read your list of reasons why I shouldn't watch this film, and I was thinking "Well it sounds fairly awful, I will avoid it." Then I read this:

Just saw the film "Fracture" with Anthony Hopkins and it was fabulous! It is a gritty legal thriller about a guy who kills his wife, admits it, but is a genius and no-one can find any evidence (sounds like it doesn't make sense, but you need to watch it - I don't want to give away any spoilers.)

Also, last week I watched "Goya's Ghosts" with Natalie Portmann and Javier Bladem. It was a strange film, but it wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be Portmann and Bladem were both excellent in it, but the plot got quite boring in the middle. Still, worth a watch!

Too late BloodRayne 3 is already filming, and Far Cry is in post.

His last name is Bardem... but maybe you were calling him Bladem as a comment on his acting.

Just saw The Big Lebowski, on recommendation from half the forum. ;)
It was flipping hilarious, and I am really glad I watched it.
