Watching Atomic Blonde.

Apt praised the abuse Theron takes and keeps going.
It's just too ridiculous, the big fight scene she would be hospitalised after the first two guys.

Outside of that APTS review sort of stands.

I apologize for saying this

The laser dance heist scene in the museum is the pinnacle of movie frivolity and therefore one of the best scenes ever filmed in human history.

THIS.

Also, I have that song he plays in heavy rotation on my iPod.

I've never seen the Ocean's movies, but I will repeat you guys should watch Logan Lucky if you haven't yet. It's the most ADORABLE heist movie ever made.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Like you say, she takes an unbelievable amount of punishment but I think they sell it well, both during the fight and afterwards. I love that you see the fighters getting physically exhausted in a short time. And I like that the trauma isn't ignored afterwards. Those opening scenes where Theron is icing her ENTIRE BODY and is covered in bruises was phenomenal. It's like watching a sexy but uncomfortable super hero version of Sharon Stones character in Basic Instinct.

I really hope they get to make some sequels.

Watched GHOST IN THE SHELL and VALARIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS

I was surprised to find that I liked Ghost a lot more than Valarian.

With barely remembering anything from Ghost In the Shell, I can't speak to how faithful the movie adaption really is, but it feels true to the story. The whole way through I had this feeling that the whole film was very familiar and derivative, if not generic. But then I recalled that this is an OLD story that plenty of other Sci-fi and thriller stories may have cripped from. What carries the film I think, is the style and presentation of the whole film. Like Bladerunner 2049, it feels like they put a lot of thought into the fictional representation of future Japan.

I thought Scarlet Johanon did a good job, allthough she doesn't seem to have much range. Was very happy to see the Danish actor Pilou Asbæk's performance as Batou. He seems to have transitioned into English performances much easier than Mads Mikkelsen. Seems like he's been picking/been cast for all the right roles the past few years.

Valarian and The City of bla bla bla was a mess. The characters looked and acted nothing like the comics I remember reading and the story was nonsensical. Complete lack of focus. So many of the plot elements seemed to have little connection. And yet, I still thought it was entertaining. I liked the chemistry between the two (weird looking) actors but that whole marriage proposal subplot felt incredibly forced.

I started watching it the other night and switched off after about 20-30 minutes. Dane DeHaan was woefully miscast and the CGI while pretty, was distracting. It was like trying to watch a moving "Where's Wally?". I don't know if it was deliberate going for the stilted acting but it wasn't great. In the short amount I watched Delevigne was way better than DeHaan who has precisely zero charisma. He'd be better playing a sociopath.

I might get around to watching the rest of it later but I'm in no rush.

I agree. In fact the miscasting of Dehaan is probably the WORST miscast in a long time. He doesn't embody the character even a little bit.

I'm normally quite reserved in my praise for films but Darkest Hour... what an absolutely fantastic film...

Gary Oldman is so convincing, you forget you're watching an actor play Winston Churchill and start to believe you're actually watching Winston Churchill.

Also the feels... the feels this film generates... unbelievable, total ride of goosebumps. The speeches left you tingling.

I just want to watch it again....

Cool event. Gets you pumped. Tom Hardy certainly gives you hope that there is a belief that the script is good. I still have my doubts about the film though. It can't be an origin film, right? Or are they seperating Venom from the Spiderman films? I'd really love it if it's just a standalone, fully formed Venom film. But then you have the question of how Hardy is going to portray Brock? Is he going to act like a psychotic version of Bane that speaks to himself in a very creepy way? Because Brock is meant to be creepy and scary and utterly menacing because of his sheer size.

I really want to believe that The Darkest Hour isn't going to be the haigographic bumlicking that I fear it is. But I'm sceptical. No review I've seen suggests it takes any kind of notice of the real flaws of his character or politics.

It does, at least, look better than that other one that came out last year. Although I didn't see that either.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Super Troopers 2! Full length trailer.

I'm hoping they dont do the typical sequel thing where they take what made the first one great and overdo the shit out of it and it sucks. Fingers crossed.

I saw Three Billboards. It might be the most tragic film I've ever seen but it is so funny and so so good. One flaw stops it from getting tip top marks from me but it is a must-see.

Good to know, I do want to see it as I love Frances McDormand.

A lot of movie trailers debuting during these NFL Conference Championship games (Rampage, Tomb Raider, Ready Player One). Basically Super Bowl lite for commercials when you consider it.

You movie freaks better use your google-fu and get them up here asap, so the discussions can begin in earnest.

[EDIT]I lol'd when The Rock says: "of course the wolf can fly".

Yes, this would be the 4th film in the franchise.

Oh, and if you wonder who the demographic is for this movie existing? It's me. It's fucking me. I grew up with the Dundee movies, and I loved all three of them. I will see this - barring that it's not some elaborate Super Bowl commercial ad, as some have posited....but two teaser trailers, with wholly different scenes, and a few production stills which show OTHER scenes....I think this is real.

How they kept this under wraps is REALLY beyond me.

Synopsis:

Crocodile Dundee is back. Well, actually, he's missing in the Outback. And the only person who might be able to find him is the loudmouth American son no one knew he had. Introducing Danny McBride as Brian Dundee.

"This son of a legend is forced to channel his Aussie roots as he teams up with a local expert, Wally Jr., played by Chris Hemsworth. Together, they'll embark on the ultimate adventure in the land down under.

"It's time to live up to the family name."

I wonder if Van Damme can still do the split maneuver. If he can, I can see them working that in to this. A scene where he does it while fighting the Mountain from GoT and using his scrotum as a speed bag.
