Guillermo Del Toro appears to have made a secret Abe Sapien prequel. Possibly without asking anyone first.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Looks neat, a bit like GDT meets Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

That said, that trailer gives away waaaay more of the movie than I'd ever want, so others be warned.

It VERY VERY much has that CITY OF LOST CHILDREN meets ABE from HELLBOY vibe. VERY Jeunet...Like if they'd have cast Audrey Tatou in the lead role, it would probably look much the same. Even the stationary shots like the ending one with the subtitles feels Jeunet-ish, as does most of the cinematography (done by the guy who did BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF...which explains a lot of the look here and the "french" bent to the vibe).

In fact, I FULLY agree that this is a standalone Abe Sapien movie that GDT could no longer do because of the fallout with Mignola...so he's basically just changed the important particulars, but left in the big bells and whistles that denote the character of Abe...liking Eggs, tank, classical music, taking with hands, ect.

That said, I'm interested. Not interested enough to forget the shitshow that was CRIMSON PEAK...but interested as a digital rental down the road.

This will probably be the focus of a lot of discussion. Or maybe not.

I thought I heard something about Sheen being in jail for fucking all those people without telling them he was HIV positive? Or did they drop that case?

Why on earth would anyone want his name connected with their production?

I completely thought this was a fake poster...because why would ANYONE headline Charlie fucking Sheen as the lead in their film?

Could it be the "Sharknadao'ing" of the disaster movie genre?

Also there is some obvious low hanging fruit there for distasteful jokes. I'll keep one of the obvious ones to myself because I don't want to be neg-repped into last week. Lets just say it's a play on Two and a Half Men. Posted Image

Because the movie is so bad that this was all they could think of to draw any sort of crowd at all for the two weeks it will be in theatres.

I couldn't resists a quick Google sweep, and yeah, set your expectations low for this one....

Yep, looks like it's on par with Sharknado. I'm probably going to watch this hot garbage.

That's some awful dialogue, but I'll watch it. Suicide Squad was awful, I don't care at all about Fury, and End of Watch was great, so it's like spinning a roulette wheel. From the trailer it looks like this one movie is stuffed with five movies' worth of plot, so that's always a good sign.

Anything with Will Smith is usually a big pass for me, but there looks to be enough interesting things going on that I may have to watch it. I'll probably wait and see when sources I trust come back with their impressions.

And yes, Suicide Squad was awful, no going out on a limb and putting rep in jeopardy by making that statement. I haven't seen the others, so I have no perspective really on whether the creative minds behind this can do a good job or not (other then Suicide Squad sucked and it has sucky Will Smith in it).

Looks like somebody took Smith out of I, Robot and placed the character in Alien Nation and smashed it together with 16 blocks. This show seems like a police procedural set in the early days of the Shadowrun setting. Why not just call it Shadowrun and capitalize on the brand recognition?

Of course, I guess Shadowrun is not very well known in pop culture. Might be cheaper and smarter long term to just make up your own off brand Shadowrun show.

It's a movie, not a show. That's why the sheer amount of things that trailer includes make it seem insanely overstuffed.

What? I just looked it up to double check. That seems idiotic.

I assumed it was your typical 10 episode Netflix show. Cramming all that into one film sounds like asking for a exactly the same problem as Suicide Squad.

I think BRIGHT looks really good actually. Can't wait to watch it. Haven't yet watched OKJA, Netflix's most recent big movie offering...but heard god things.

Going to see VALERIAN tonight! WOOHOO!

I'm a die hard THE FIFTH ELEMENT fan...and I usually love Besson's work...so I'm hoping this is good.
