Yah I ordered that movie from amazon.com on DVD. It is a great movie. North America takes four years to get a movie across the Pacific ocean for ****s sake.

Watched Starsky and Hutch two days ago, wasn't all that impressed with it. Stiller and Wilson have been on a steady decline ever since Meet the Parents.

P.S. Funny, just as I typed all this the trailer for Hero came on the TV Posted Image.

@fortrip - el miriachi is a great film!!!!

hate all thsoe scary movie films they are terrible! i stupidly allowed my mates to take me to SM2 and it was over within an hour and the only decent thing about it was the women, now i aint complaining about good looking women but if thats all there is you may as weell just go see wildthings or watch some porn.

bloody hero isnt in any fecking cinema around here yet, what the hell??

DD--take a look at El Dorado if you haven't already. It's a remake of Rio Bravo with Wayne, Robert Mitchum and James Caan. Not as good as Rio Bravo but pretty good(especially Mitchum as the drunken sheriff)

Just saw Seagal's Out of Reach. Terrible. He needs to raise his game. Thirteen Days is about The Cuban Missile crisis and is a very good dvd package. The guys who play the kennedys are spot on. The funny thing was the directors commentry explaining why Costner felt the need to do a Boston accent for authenticity. He must have changed his tune since Robin Hood. Got Girl with a Pearl Earing dvd on the cheep and looking forward to it. Love all those dvd extras for films like that where a lot of painstaking attention to detail went into their making.

Angels are sex-less, they do not have genders in other words. Gabriel is neither man nor woman, but something in between..

As to its zeal. It felt that the life of humans was to easy, that through their undeserved happiness they never got to truly deserve their lords blessing and entry into heaven. By making their lives a living hell humans would be forced to turn towards god or away. There would be no middle path in such a life.

Gabriel does not hate humans, it loves them. Thats kinda the point.

And the movie was truly not good, amusing yes but not very good. A friend of mine and I laughed through almost the whole movie. Got a lot of angry looks from people who obviously found it very exciting and frightening

I agree with you in that area.. but retruning to godzilla.. was it badly directed or acted? i didnt think so but thats just my opinion.. the script was better than i thought it would be, especially compared to the Toho godzilla films Posted Image

was a masterwork compared to "destroy all monsters" lol

perhaps i should clarify it somewhat.. badly done films suck, but films that are done to reasonable standards, and are criticised for failing to meet the desires of the veiwer shouldnt be rubbished because they fail to entertain them, they can just say "i didnt like it" or "its not my kind of thing"

thats fair enough, tastes vary. what really annoys me are people who criticise a film for doing what it set out to do, and i admit in the case of hellboy im not entirely objective, ive been waiting ages to see the damn thing, and it was better than i expected.. ive seen some really awful comic films in the past.. the flash, fantastic 4 (which was never officially released it was so badly done) the Jusice League, Generation X.. the list goes on and on... I thought it was fairly well done for such a relatively unknown work, and had pretty good acting, and retained the original comic feel, including the sarcastic one liners and deadpan humour.

in the case of godzilla i thought the same, it redefined what the godzilla fans were familiar with, and got criticised for doing so, but at the same time in striving to retain the original essence of the monster, they were criticised by people who failed to find a monster ripping up a city interesting.

I guess it all comes back to managing expectations.

A few of my mates who study film in uni blame the media for trying to make the filsm appeal to more than their own market and i think thats a fair comment. the way films are portrayed as being "the next star wars" or "the greatest work of fiction since the bible!" Posted Image

if they came right out and gave you the real story "a monster terrorises NY" or "a boy, from hell, fights nazis and saves the world" then the masses would have no one to blame but themselves ... but im sure they would still find faults in it if it was technically perfect.

can anyone else think of films they were told to go and see and came out thinking "this sucks"

matrix 2 & 3 spring to mind.. but unlike many films, they were dreadfully done, dreadfully acted, and the dialouge ppl should be hung as a service to humanity!

Underworld was last year's Cell.

If you like anything but atmosphere, avoid Underworld! Watch Alien, Blade and the Matrix instead.

Or, if you like female action stars, watch La Femme Nikita, Wing Chun, and maybe The Heroic Trio.

I've caught a few episodes of Bebop, and I think it's amazing. Great animations, cool world and characters, and by god, best music ever. I do want to see Ghost in the Shell, but I've yet to get around to it.

Here I am in California Posted Image. And nope I don't want a refund. I thought the movie was coolies. Not amazing but well worth a cinema trip. Some things could have been better but overall it was darned coolies Posted Image.

Also went to see "Garden State" today. Was surprisingly impressed. A good performance by Zach Broff (sp?) and Natalie Portman. I recomend that definately. Also on the plane saw "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". Maybe not the best movie for a 5.5 hr plane trip but good nonetheless a stellar performance by Carey and good from winslet too Posted Image.

Yup, I saw it quite a few years ago. It was an alright flick but nothing superb. I remember when I was watching it it seemed like every second actor who appeared on screen was from Braveheart Posted Image.

Been watching a lot of 80s movies on TV in the last week or so. Back to the Future 1/2/3 and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Man I wish they made movies like those nowadays.

Nah. It's from the hitchhiker scene in Something About Mary and Rio Bravo is an old John Wayne movie directed by Howard Hawks. (Bringing up Baby, The Big Sleep, His Girl Friday)

I've already seen those other westerns (many times actually) except for Once Upon a Time in the West.

However, I have the entire Robert Altman collection to rent first...

Caught a few flicks on the boob-tube this weekend.

"Super Size Me" is the pseudo-documentary of a fella who ate MacDonald's food 3 times a day for an entire month. What a funny yet utterly horrifying film. North America is eating itself to death. It's been years since I last ate at the Golden Arches but I'm certainly never going to eat there again.

Also watched "The Day After Tomorrow" which a big Hollywood disaster flick. I could predict everything that was going to happen in the film but the special effects were rather cool and I was decently entertained.

I recieved "Last of the Mohicans" as a birthday gift. I've seen the film several times but it's still a joy to watch. One of the best soundtracks too.
