It moves forwards obviously, the problem was to work out why. If the man is pushed back due to inertia so shoudl the balloon. But if we ignore the mass of the balloon and just assume it does not exist the pocket of helium gas has less mass therefore less inertia than the air. So the air is pushed back forcing the balloon forward.

You say 'what would the other person say about the left door'.

Edit for explanation:
If the left door lead to freedom, then the truthteller would say the other person would say it would lead to death, and the liar would say the truthteller would say it would lead to death.

So, you do opposite of what they say.
