At the moment all I have are local police reports made public on Facebook etc so I don't know any details but he's been charged with her murder and likely remanded in custody. No idea what else is going on but I'm going to keep an eye on it as best I can. They'd been married for quite a number of years and had 4 kids together so I can only imagine the pain for them...

Thanks guys. You hear about it happening but when it's someone you know it's quite hard to comprehend. Heck I've been involved in murder investigations and I've seen domestic abuse of all levels and yet this is something else.

It is. I’m so sorry Tiste.

Very small things by comparison, but the laser emitter on my gamecube is giving me some issues, it takes a bit of cleaning and manual repositioning each time I want to use it.

Also the weather, it's snowy, cold and very unpleasant.

We've got water coming into out loft in more than once place, as we discovered yesterday.

As a stroke of luck my dad is a builder, so he's kindly coming up today to have a look and see if we can do any temporary fixing as winter is not the time to be messing with substantial work on a roof. The house is only 30 years old so we're hoping it isn't anything huge, but it being in more than one place suggests it's more than a damaged tile or two. From an unprofessional eye it looks like perhaps the felting wasn't done particularly well as we can see gaps where the overlap is drooping away in several places (and one where we can see clearly through to the roof tiles), but if it needs to be redone that means taking the roof off.

Hoping for the best, but it's annoying. We keep finding things in this house that weren't done particularly well, or were done in such a way that prioritised cheap over sensible, but nothing to this extent. Grr.

It seems to be the standard on new builds unfortunately - my sister has a house around that old, maybe a bit younger and she's had basically the same problem.

I don't know how UK houses work, but in the US roof problems like this are possibly something that the sellers can have charged to them or the people who did the inspection possibly if it's egregious and not recent development.

Unfortunately yes. It was built within a couple of years of my old flat and I can see some similarities - again, nothing huge, but more than a niggle.

There is a similar mechanism over here depending on the nature of the problem, I believe. We're going to check our survey and see where that leaves us.

My dad couldn't find an obvious source of a leak (which is reassuring), mentioned that all the other houses on the street have at least one vent built into the roof and we don't have any so it could be an excess of condensation isn't helping, but was going to speak to a roofer he trusts as the pattern of where the water is seems very odd to him. Hoping if he describes it to a roof specialist it might suggest something to him. We shall see.

Got official results today, my grandmother isn’t doing well and going to have Christmas at her house with my entire family will probably be the last time I see her. She’s 95 and had a great run but it’s hard, she’s one of my favorite people.

Oh dang that's hard. I mean we all know it is coming and 95 is a grand old age but still, it's not fun to get news like that. Here's hoping for some great memories to be made this year!

My friends keep leaving town. I don't like having to make new friends. I'm good enough at it if I put my mind to it but it's exhausting.

Work is a dumpster fire right now. Too much work (double the caseload compared my old job [currently I have somewhere a bit over 300], when it's a mix of complex and noncomplex which is demonstrably unsustainable), an exec who clearly haven't worked this sort of job before and just want bigger numbers all the time, and departments and processes that actively work against us or contradict other processes. I really feel like I'm beginning to burn out from the stress.

Way too young to go.

He was phenomenal in Homicide and 99.

I feel you my friend! I have a gammy eye, my second cold in 3 weeks, living off quick junk food, shattered from overwork.

Just got to make it to Wednesday then I start my Christmas break.
