Thanks all.

On dad's wife's side, we always knew it was terminal so there's not any hope there - it's more a case of how long can it be reasonably delayed.

With mum's husband, it was just properly diagnosed as oesophageal cancer with secondary bone/spinal. So shittier than we thought.

My only reaction to such a shower of shit is :soppospin: (Ginto knows).

My job goes in cycles of being terrible but bearable, to being soul crushing and more than I think I can handle. Right now it’s the latter. Anxiety attacks my old friend!

Hang in there man.

I went through that last year and all I can offer in advice is to be there for your family and they'll be there for you.

What news?

I'm up at 0446 with a nasty thumping headache. Let's see what 3 paracetamol can do.
I've ben getting them more often lately. Must be because I'm back at work. :)
Thankfully it's a long weekend.

EDIT: Maark - sorry mate, best wishes to you and yours.

He went at about 19:00. I was late but apparently he'd been asleep for the entire day and just slipped away.

Condolences, Maark :p

I don't want to detract from that, but apparently, the great bloomity has started. It's January. Nature, what you doin'? And I'd been wondering while I'm feeling like shit all day today. Of course it had to be a Friday, so no way to stock up on cortisone until at least Monday... :)

Never mind all of the above. Worst thing to ever happen on this thread has happened to me.

I got a splinter down the inside of my thumb nail. Like nearly all the way down. It hurt even more on the way out.

Had to deal with the obstructive receptionists at two doctor's offices first thing in the morning today. None figured it's part of her job to let me finish what I was going to say. Almost ended up with the wrong prescription because of that. Ugh. My weekend was miserable enough, I was not prepared mentally to deal with their nonsense.

Straight Outta Gitmo.

@Puck
Really? The receptionists wouldn't allow you to describe wtf you were experiencing? Weird.
Do medical receptionists over there have some sort of higher level of interaction? Because here they are pretty much admin and payments, with no actual medical interaction. That's purely for the medical staff.
