Oh geez, that sucks. Hopefully you at least have a book with you to pass the time. Stay safe!

Always, especially since I went the ebook route. I also found a roundabout way to get home by bus. It may take two hours, but better than standing outside in the cold!

Yes but hurting a cat guarantees it.

Does it include a stop at a pub?

Because close encounters with unexploded WW2 bombs call for a drink. Or six.

I'm taking a defensive driving course because I got a speeding ticket in a speed trap (need to reduce points on my license for insurance reasons). They have thankfully updated the videos used during the course from the 1970s and 1980s - to videos discussing the car accident that caused Princess Diana's death.

Why do you do this, people? Why?
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

That's bizarre. Doesn't seem relatable. How many drivers get chased to death by unscrupulous paparazzi?

Anyway, here's something terribly sad: Miguel Ferrer passed away!

My science paper was rejected by my first choice journal. Which was unexpected.

The editors said it was a well executed paper but that the advancement in science was only incremental and so not suitable for their journal. Bit of a let down!

Nah, it's nothing dramatic over here, they find one or two every year in Germany and as far as these things go, it was a smooth affair. 2000 people got evacuated and the train station was closed down for a bit, that's it. What annoyed me personally was how they had that thing sit exposed for the entire day beside the train tracks and only started disarming it smack when the after work rush hour hit AND it was dark already. About 54000 people had it much worse in Augsburg last year, as they found a WW2 bomb smack in the town centre right before Christmas and decided disarming it would be best done on Christmas day and the aforementioned 54000 had to evacuate.

Here's yesterday's one, btw:

Actually, Wikipedia says, they find roughly 5500 bombs a year and it's estimated that 100000 are all over the countryside, it's just that only the bigger ones get any publicity in the news.

Lost playoffs in the semiconductor finals. Partially b/c our GK was stuck in traffic, but mostly because our offence couldn't score to save their lives. When it came to shots on net the ratio was probably 5:1 in our favour. Sigh. I didn't play that much, since we were keeping a more offensive line on most of the game, but while I was on, there were no goals against us, so normally I'd be ok- kinda exasperated, but okay.

But I also got clocked in the jaw during the game, which is annoying. Nothing seems broken, but it does feel a tad weird.

1. Some idiot at work decided I need a new email adress, you know, one those personalized ones instead of the one I've had for the six years I've been woRing here. Naturally, the hard drive of my work station PC got wiped in the process. Same regarding all my emails and server access, etc. Idiots. A week later we're still not much further along to getting everything set back up. At least Photoshop is working, hell yeah?

2. Someone decided we need a different brand of water at work. You'd think sparkly water tastes the same no matter what brand... Nooope. This new, more expensive stuff tastes like pants. I shouldn't complain about free stuff, but eh.

Edit:
3. Yeah, to add insult to injury, I just found out they've accidentally potentially removed everyone from their health insurance. Is there anyone halfway competent working here? I hate this place.

Doesn't your company have backups of data? Its quite irresponsible on their part.

We're supposed to be backing up our stuff by using the big server, which I did and do, so it's not like everything's gone, but since my server access is restricted as of now... *sits around waiting for it be opened again* My emails are goners, though. I only work here part-time, but you'd think even I would be informed of something like my hard drive being wiped beforehand. Which wouldn't eben be all that bad either way if they'd remembered to turn my server and database access back on. And this being an international corporation, it's not as simple as bothering the IT guy, as the responsible IT guy is in freaking Dubai.

I swear, nobody here has any idea how this place continues to function.

I'm not making this up, honestly.

Puck is it at all possible that an ancestor of yours was cursed by a particularly nasty witch?

Don't have to look far for that. Mother dearest believes herself to be cursed. Of course, a doubte-cursing incident might have occured in times gone by. Or when she broke her classmate's nose with her shoe.
