Discovered that yesterday. Mind is still utterly boggled that 1) it exists and 2) people buy into it.

Variations of these 'men should be men and women should be having sex with men and shutting up the rest of the time' groups have been around for ages. The internet just gave a few of the louder ones more of a voice.
Also painted more of a target on them, as seen by toe TO and Ott tweactions.

Awake 6 hours.

On 7th beer.

I think there's a problem with that math.

Very frustrated at the minute. Did a job interview of sorts just before christmas and thought it was basically a done deal. Had to follow up on some things in early january but once those obstacles were out of the way, it was simply a matter of the employer doing their bit on the paperwork side, and off we go. After a few weeks now of me trying to balance prodding them along gently, without seeming to pester them, I finally got a more definitive response (of sorts).

The guy who I would have been working for, just announced that he is leaving at the end of this month, and so he isn't sure about them taking on someone like me despite the fact that I could be working away independently until his replacement is in place. What's so frustrating is that the way he said it to me today was framed in a "it wouldn't be very fair on you" type of way. Which is shite, cos they could have had me in situ for nearly a month already, and I would have been well up to speed by the end of Feb, so his departure would have been a minor inconvenience to my role.

But now I'm stuck, cos I'd really like to work there (as it ties together my past education and experience with my newer career direction), but having waited the best part of 6 weeks for this to come to pass, I don't know if I can keep waiting indefinitely for them to decide if the job will happen at all now. What if they decide to hold off until the new guy gets established before allowing him to hire a person to work with, then you could be talking 3-4 months minimum.

So annoying.

I don't have the full picture, but my understanding was Gnaw has neuropathic pain, which is basically chronic.

Gnaw, I don't know where you are/what's the legal status isthere, but have any of your pain specialists ever talked to you about cannabis for pain control?

I ask because my boss is a strong proponent of that, and we deal with a large number of injured workers who find that to be a much better pain control than most opiate heavy-duty painkillers with less side effect consequences with the GIT.

I am dealing with some moderate pain every day these last three weeks because a blood clot has moved to my sacroliac joint. Can't do sit-ups, certain twists of my back, and getting out of a chair/bed in the morning is real tough walking for the first two minutes. I had a week-long stay in the hospital three years ago when three clots collapsed a lung and only coughed out two, so this is either that third clot migrating or a new one that's popped up.

I haven't gotten to the point of using alcohol/drugs to deal with it, but I do understand how even that level of pain affects life. I'm having to find alternate motions for certain things in daily life and in my workouts.

My big thing with 7+ beers a day is that it's a ton of carbs. Switch to liquor?
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I was just told I am the second choice for the job I interviewed for last week. It's as close I'll get in some time to my dream job, and the only reason I was even considered is that my field of specialty is pretty perfect for the position. It's very flattering to be considered the second best for a job like this, but that's a small consilation.

I can only hope that the guy placed as nr 1 (he had ten or so more years of work experience - bah) gets unreasonable about the sallary and ends up not taking the offer.

Shit :p

Make a salary counter-offer that makes you a more economical choice vs anything 1st place dude can bring to the table.

I had this reaction too, and wondered why a villa in France was so bad. I'm sure there's a story. Macros?

I believe Maccy means he had to go back and continue doing electrical work on someone else's bloody (literally, maybe?) villa in France, instead of going somewhere cool.
