Holy shit yes. I feel like I could write a novel just about how much I do not like Sanderson.
I actually, no, I think it's more just that he is merely okay. Like a Solid B/B- and so many fucking people are so hot on him and his completely forgettable books. God Dammit. Gets to me!

You guys should really start taking my opinion as gospel.
Okay I'm giving you a shot, The Gospel of Morgoth (Working Title?). Give me one parable, 5 commandments and the general tone of your gospel. If I like what I hear Ill option 5 more commandments and we can introduce characters through a back door pilot for maybe 1 or 2 spinoff Gospels.

Round 2: Sanderson lovers (no premarital sex obviously) Vs Sanderson Haters

You're all (mostly) wrong.
Sanderson is an OK, B-list fantasy author. I moderately enjoyed all his works. Mistborn trilo ended well (the DXM is there, but the grounds for it were laid out throughout the series, so I didn't mind it nearly as much as Ando did). Warbreaker had colours and the talking sword, and the rebel princess was hilariously dumb.

I won't deny some of Sanderson's early stuff is weaker.. I disliked both ELANTRIS and WARBREAKER. But MISTBORN and STORMLIGHT and finishing the fucking WHEEL OF TIME propel him well beyond B-List. We don't need to have yest another 'just because the masses like it doesn't mean its good' debate, but him numbers and quality for rate of productivity are hardly B-list.

I'm still on the fence about Stormlight. The setting is cool, and I like the idea of crossing epic Fantasy with an Escaflowne-esque Saturday morning cartoon (seriously, wait for it, but in a decade or 2 Bandai will be making shardplate toy sets), but I'm still not convinced Sanderson has enough there for a 10-doorstopper epic. The character writing in Stormlight 1 + 2 was atrocious, but Wax & Wayne books hint that he's getting better.
I too am sceptical about STORMLIGHT as a ten book effort, but suppose it was just two trilos and a quad to wrap everything and its less offputting.

I read so much about Jordan since joining the forum, I honestly don't think I actually need to read WoT. Ditto Badkind.
Or, y'know, make up your own mind.
Except about Goodkind... just take our word for that mess.

Dragoncow sounds ludicrous, but more to the point I tend to avoid any fantasy where the protagonist is perfect. But maybe I'll pick up the series if/when the trilo is ever completed.
He's not perfect. I found massive flaws in WIND, and but that specific point sn't one of them.
...tho if anyone is wondering, yes, the Dragoncow is one of them. Two, actually. Possibly three.

Bakker is epic, but sloggy, and too much grimdark at points. YMMV.
SE remains awesome.

Also, "Tigana" is underwhelming, and "Sarantine Mosaic" is GGKay's best work.
Agreed on Tigana, will have to get back to you on Sarantine. The books are on my shelf, but its hard to imagine anything topping Lions.
Tigana was.....good? Above average? Only I had hoped for a lot more and it has some strange digressions and subplots.
Disliked TIGANA a LOT, but can acknowledge you should make up your own mind about the randomly tangential inconsistely characterized, poorly plotted needless incest-ridden mess.
LOVED SARANTINE.

"B-list" in my books basically means "good, but not insta-buy" . Sanderson's stuff is usually worth buying, but I'm not gonna rush out to grab it, and Stormlight especially is very much a "wait till the mmpb is out" proposition for me. (This might change once I finally get around to getting into ebooks)
Then again, my book-buying standards are high. Pretty much the only insta-buy for me right now is "Walk in Shadow". Aside from that, my TRP is such that I don't need to rush pretty much anything.

Neither of those things was necessary to the story. The relationship did not need to be incestuous and the ghost demon whatever the fuck that was had precisely zero connection to anything else the character did in the story.
...which i found was poorly developed in any event and could only have been made worse by the addition of a dragoncow who spurted black semen all over the place.

to stir us back on topic:
Half my co-workers are either sick or dealing with random injuries. My boss walked off to emerg b/c he feels like he might've fractured his wrist, and I'm stuck dealing with stuff that came up. And the senior assistant is off (probably on a follow-up for her own hand injury from a bunch of months back), so I'm not getting good help either.
And I just remembered that my boss was supposed to bring my paycheck (payday was Fri, but I obviously forgot to ask him, b/c the first thing I saw was his hand in a bunch of bandages.
It's gonna be one of those weeks days, I can feel...

My email spam filter is usually really good at catching the garbage advert emails, but damn, there must be something about the days just before and right after Thanksgiving (leading up to "cyber Monday") that is just too much for it. So much garbage gets through my filter this time of year it really annoys me. I get multiple emails from the same companies every day. It's ridiculous and really messes with my groove.
