My Kobo broke... just as I was finishing Republic of Thieves. Apparently freezing on the sleeping screen and not responding to manual and factory resets is "just a thing that happens".
On the plus side they're going to replace it under warranty, but it will still be a week or probably more.

Sounds like a very smart machine honestly. Republic is a horrible book.
Going outside for more then 5 minutes is impossible this week. This heatwave is horrible.
Can Old Man Winter come back(and actually fucking do a proper job) already?

Only if it's a localized South of US winter. Keep your hands off my short-lived Canadian summer!

Chester Bennington from Linkin Park died of an apparent suicide.
Damn.
He was a friend of Chris Cornell, who would have been 53 today.
OK 2017, you can stop now.

Yeah, this one hurts. I was really really into their music for years. I'd moved on a few years ago, but I can still throw Hybrid Theory, Meteora, or Minutes to Midnight on and sing along pretty much line for line. This one feels personal to me in the way that most of the celeb deaths haven't ever since Robin Williams passed.

Exactly. I loved almost all of their music. I still listen to a lot of it. In fact I quite liked their later albums as well. Iridiscent is a fantastic song.
This makes me very anxious for other bands I love. Thankfully Bruce Dickinson beat his cancer.

It could have been so much cheese that you wanted to be sick. Then it would be the right thread.

Shit Cause! I'm sorry to hear you're going through that. I hope they get it all, and you get a full recovery.

Got pretty wrecked last night, in full knowledge that I'll be facing a clusterfuck this morning, b/c my tenant needed a new fridge/her malfunctioning one repaired.
Pros: managed to find a new fridge relatively cheap, and (miracle!) it's available in store for pickup, so we can deliver it to them TODAY.
Cons: I've missed my team's cup game dealing with this crap. And I'm running on about 3 hours of sleep, b/c I was on standby 8-10 AM, but the mechanic didn't show up till 1130
If it wasn't a pool party and I didn't spend half the evening in the water, I'd be feeling a lot worse. I'm pretty sure the mild headache is less the hangover, and more to do with sleep deprivation.

Situation at work this week
Last week there is a meeting where a few very important changes are decided upon and announced.
This week - those changes may not actually happen because someone higher up the food chain nixed it.
And they wonder why people become apathetic and indifferent.
Quote
Monday: This important meeting will happen either on Thursday or on Friday. The exact time will be finalised by Tuesday.
Tuesday: The meeting will happen either on Friday or on next Tuesday. No one knows when this will be confirmed.
Agenda for discussion? - Agenda? Discussion? What are these strange things of which you speak?

Nah, they don't wonder, they know. Just really good at pretending that it's all some mystery and it couldn't possibly have anything to do with bureaucratic bullshit or corporate douchebaggery that regularly screws over the bulk of the workforce (often in the name of MOAR PROFITS) or anything, right?
