We're working down in Dublin for a while, and were stuck bouncing round hotel rooms. I hate hotel living.
The boss got us a house sorted, he hit the jackpot.
clean, spacious, has a sauna and free wifi. great to be able to cook for yourself in the mornings and evenings.

As per the "The Book I Bought Today" thread in the Other Literature forum...

I found THE EMPTY THRONE, WARRIORS OF THE STORM and THE FLAME BEARER, the latest three books in the Saxon Stories by Bernard Cornwell. I found them all in the charity shop near my house. They are all hardback copies. I paid the princely sum of £2 (which is $2.57 or CA$3.54 or AU$3.50 or EUR2.50) for all three (yup, for all three, not each...) I am quite chuffed with these findings.

Well I'm just very mucb jealous of your good fortune. I still need to buy all three of those.

had cracked the screen on my phone a while back and after a barney with the insurance wankers decide dto fix it myself.
finally got around to doing it tonight.

hella fiddly, but I think I've got it done alright. have a slight concern with the power/lock button acting funny, but the battery is basically flat so going to charge it up a bit first to see what the craic is.
if its just a positioning issue (like I assume) its easy to access that to move a little.

only down is I don't think I tamped one of the edges down tight enough when gluing the screen in, so theres a wee bit of light showing

yep, bit of a charge and all is good.

nice to have a proper screen back again, pity about my piss poor gluing skillz leaving the white bar of light up the side. but fuck it, it works.

eta - ha, just realised I left a part out.

its not massively important, it a little inset that sits over the ear piece. not a dust protector, more aesthetics than anything.

A coworkers little 14-year-old dog went missing this past Tuesday afternoon. Consternation all around. Doggie turned up Friday morning. She had somehow gotten into a neighbor's open garage and then trapped when garage door was closed. A bit dehydrated but all is well.

Yesterday I randomly found out that a girl from my class had a "family" team registered for a local muddy obstacle course race(pretty big and famous one around here so registrations are a bit pricey and have to be done in advance if you want place) that was taking place today but the only guy of them who was under 18(having one 18- member was one of conditions for creating family team) injured his leg and they needed a substitute. I haven't been doing any exercise for like 4 years, can't swim and was never interested in this kinda stuff but they couldn't find anyone else so I agreed to sub for him.

It was a lot of fun. The family track was designed for 8+ kids so it wasn't very difficult and all the swimming parts were luckily omitted, but still making my way through all the mud was really satisfying, plus I could still outrun the rest of my team so seeing that my shape ain't as bad as I though made me happy too. Well except for the obstacle where I had to swim twice under a log placed just on the surface of water, there it turned out that contact lenses and caolin water don't go together very well, but when during making my way through the next obstacle I managed to open my eyes without loosing the lenses for .ore than 2 seconds and the burning in my eyes mostly diminished I was back on the track again.

We were third but that's not really not much of an achievement for a team of 4 18 year olds where probably every team behind us had atleast one 12- kid.

I'm happy that I so randomly stumbled into participation in such an awesome event.

Just a little bummed that if I wanted to I couldn't participate in the full-length race(5km, over 40 obstacles) next year if I wanted to since that one is only for individuals and nobody could help me swim there. Might get an adult team though, but the prices for that are almost double and there can only be 3 members so that might be a problem too, but I guess I'll see next year.

Only for another month and a half!
That's not making me happy btw. But atleast I'll finally be able to do the driving school exams.

Quiet moments reading news, boredpanda, and this site while drinking coffee and listening to Sir Sly.

Don't judge.

I have lots of good TV to watch, which might sound lame but hey, I'm apparently easily pleased. I remember being a kid and looking forward to a specific night of the week because show X would be on, and I sort of feel like that again. I don't know why most of it seems to be on Sunday night, but thank Jeebus for PVR's...Handmaid's Tale and American Gods, and then this coming weekend the new / rebooted Twin Peaks, all on Sunday nights. It'll suck when all these shows end, but until then, hooray.

This reminded me that I'd heard a song by them on xm and that I wanted to check out their other music. So now, I'm chilling with my daughter while listening to Sir Sly. Thanks Gusty!
