Despite the cost of the job eating into my wages for the next year the car repair means it's driving really nicely again. Had to relearn the clutch on the bloody thing though as it's way sensitive again!
Also I found a VGA-HDMI adaptor for £7 that actually works so I can integrate my Gamecube into my streaming setup. It occasionally has a glitch where it bloops what's on screen and then I have to reset the capcard on OBS to rectify but I can probably rig a toggle to my streamdeck to do that. Overall it worked BEAUTIFULLY last night.

Okay so they just switched my 5th round Inerview from HR to be with the VP of global sales again. This remains things moving in a positive direction but I have never interviewed with the same person twice before.

Second date vibes.

Seem to have finally gotten the audio to stop crackling (when it's not supposed to) on my new 'usually $3000' laptop that I got for music production... so much for expensive Dell Alienware shit being dependable (or perhaps 'cheap for a reason' when it is...). Though to be fair the true culprit is probably AMD.

... and naturally the crackling has come back... when doing something that should have been (and almost certainly was) using minimal cpu.
Too late to return the laptop. Barely used it when I first got it because I hate the keyboard and the trackpad.
Oh well, I might want to buy a new computer in a year or two anyway for the new AI chips....

That was many years ago - prior to the Dell purchase. They used to be pretty much top of the line ready made gaming stuff with very high prices attached, then Dell bought them, moved down the component quality while keeping the top of line prices.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

The interview went well I think and they confirmed they want to make a decision before the end of the year. Not sure what to make of it, he asked me various scenario questions and said I answered well. Said there may be one more interview or not. Not sure if they just making sure or are maybe making a decision between two final candidates perhaps. Fingers crossed. I really want this job!

This seems insane to me, 5 rounds of interviews? How many people applied? Is this job high level security or something?

I got Mr PigDog a giant toblerone for Christmas. Online shopping where you disassociate from what you are spending because it doesn't feel like real money. I just thought it would be funny.
4.5kg of chocolate.
The day after I did the order I suddenly wondered how the hell we would get through it. Then it was delivered and it is bloody massive! My little boy has been getting creative about where to hide it but not good enough and his dad has found it already. We've been pissing ourselves laughing all day. I don't know what we are going to do with it!
