Ah, so they at least tried to improve on the comic by making him American instead of British.

To be fair the fact that the team created and funded by the CIA and mostly operates in the US includes exactly one American (as of the comics) who isnt even in charge is odd.

Hmm, haven't read the comics (yet) but Wikipedia says
Spoiler

It would be hilarious to have large parts of the dialogue between Wee Hughy with his thick Scottish accent and Butcher with his 'Cockwi' (and the Israeli guy doing a pretty good but frequently incomprehensibly muttered French accent---he's the one I needed to turn on the subtitles for actually, even though I don't usually have trouble understanding thick French accents... native French speakers tend to over-enunciate and draw out vowels rather than mumble in my experience). But no doubt some parts of the audience, especially in the United States, would find it too hard to understand (and balk at subtitles)....

It's Ennis, it's not worth overthinking, and it is explained (handwaved really) in the comics. As far as i can see, Ennis could have set the whole think in the UK and it would have worked as well except that he would have missed all the opportunities to take some truly ugly shots at the US. But, hey, it's Ennis.

Other than some exchanges with Annie about his accent and slang, nothing about comic Hughie really rests on him being Scottish.

HAPPY and DEADLY CLASS both cancelled by SyFy.

I tried HAPPY but the concept didn't grab me.
Am still enjoying CLASS but i can see why it doesn't get a second season. Too expensive, too niche for SyFy.

I could see either scooped by a different channel/service, but i doubt either has the numbers to bring anyone running.

Just Finished season 1 (and only) of DEADLY CLASS.

The end was far from its strongest work. I suspect they knew the writing was on the wall and were phoning some of it in.

Master Lin did not need his own story and what we got was hardly original, so while it was some of the best action of the last few eps, it didn't add much. And the main cast went up against a wholly unconvincing enemy while repeating the same interpersonal drama we had already seen, in some cases twice.

I would have kept watching to see if this got better, but in the end it was only ok to good, didn't get great (aside from the Breakfast Club episode which was stupid fun).

I would have liked to see whether the key development from the early comics

made it into the show and whether they had the guts to really go for it,

but alas, that is not to be.

MAKING A MURDERER update:

Some dude already in jail for another murder just confessed to murdering Teresa Halbach. If that's proven, then Avery and his nephew will go free.

This is crazy because I'd truly gotten to the point where I'de been swayed into believing that Avery did it...so if this turns out to be true, that's messed up.

He probably just confessed so that he'd have an alibi for that other murder he commited. A stable genius.

LOL.

It sounds like there is a 100k reward for such a thing...and it also sounds like he went to the OPPOSING documentary crew with the confession (people trying to prove Avery DID do it)...which makes it shadier.

Until more info is known, this is "take with a grain of salt" stuff.

Just watched Ep1 of Season 4 of The Good Place.

Still Good. Such a well-named show.

On the other hand, this is the last season. I know, I know, end on a high before it starts to go downhill, but still ... :crybaby:

Just watched this and I agree. I'm quite glad that they're not dragging it out ad infinitum. I'm glad it's back though!

Both solid also. If you want a change of pace, Generation Kill is pretty fantastic also.

Been watching the last season of Power. Holy shit it's brutal. Tommy makes Scarface look like a little girl fussing over what dress she should wear to church on Sunday morning. Shit is bonkers level violent. So much so, that one could even make a solid argument that it's done to an excessive, even prurient degree.

Fleabag.

If you don't know, now you know. Watch it and don't feel left out when all the cool kids are talking about it.

I finished watching Carnival Row last night, and found it...meh. I was disappointed that the fae weren't really developed beyond pixies can fly and pucks have horns and goat legs. It felt rather flat.

Trying to find something I can sink my teeth into(that I haven’t already seen) and that looked fairly interesting from trailer. Also curious about Broadchurch. I watched and enjoyed our remake Gracepoint I think it was called? I think Glow looks pretty stupid.

Up to season 8 in Suits. Going to push through to the end, since it is in sight.

I'm really getting into Carnival Row.

It's just got a lot of elements I like; it has a lot of familiar aspects from books and games, all finally put together in a tv show. I expect a lot of people will dump it for that reason, but I'm finding it very watchable.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.
