Britannia is weird and crazy and interesting. Two episodes in at any rate.

Marvel's Runaways... three eps in, far far better than I was expecting.

Finished the ten ep season, very happy to see this got a S2 because despite the to-be-expected decline into CW-level teen crushlovesex silliness roughly once per ep, it was actually very well done.

If you're familiar with the comic source material, they deviate pretty hard from it. The characters are all there and close to their originals, but the story places almost equal emphasis on the parents, and rather than deep dive into superhero territory with the kids on the run immediately, the season navigates around the parents' plots and the kids trying to figure out wtf is happening. Also, telepathic velociraptor.

Fun action scenes, generally witty dialogue, the plot advances, and the writers are to be commended for keeping all the individual storylines intersecting, rather than just spinning each kid or two into their own self-contained story.

Overall, this was fun comic-tv. No connections to any other Marvel-TV stuff, and better for it (tho I have a suspicion S2 may change that).

You had me at "telepathic velociraptor".

@BK
:unworthy: :)

EDIT
Just watched Black Lightning ep 1 on Netflix. Not bad for a CW DC show. I like how it starts with almost no back story except the hints you get in 5 second flashbacks or dropped in conversation. Will watch more.

Watched a Panorama documentary on BBC called "White Fright" and it is about the integration of Asians and whites in Blackburn in the North west of England. It follows a similar Panorama documentary 10 years ago following the same theme.

Now I work in Blackburn so I figure I am pretty aware of the areas they mention in the documentary and also some of the issues that go on as a result of the tensions between the communities. As a result I found it both fascinating and a bit depressing. I mean, it being made for TV obviously it is slightly angled towards showing the problems but they do speak to some people who are trying to help with integration, both white and Asian.

A very relevant and worthwhile half an hour. It's on BBC iPlayer but I know for those not in the UK there are often issues with watching iPlayer. Anyway, here is the iPlayer link for those interested and it is on YouTube but it seems to only be on channels by white supremacist groups like the EDL or BNP so I'm not sure if bits have been edited or not.

STRANGER THINGS S2. 4 eps in. I love this show.

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK S5. 4 eps in. As usual the show navigates between comedy and drama admirably. They made some odd decisions on who to focus on this season, and some of the goings are just ludicrous sitcom territory, but I'm still entertained most of the time.

I stopped watching OITNB somewhere in (I think) S4. I dunno why I just sort of got a bit bored with it. Is it still actually good or is it just entertaining because you've made it this far?

A little of both. It meanders at times, but is genuinely funny and interesting most of the time, albeit some (not all) of that is because you've watched til now.
I do think the dialogue is often some of the best on tv now.

It's Sky in the UK, and in the States it's supposedly Amazon Prime.

Nothing in Canada yet.

CBS is bringing back Murphy Brown.

On purpose.
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

Guess when your broadcast network is increasingly irrelevant to younger demographics, and older ones had new ideas, nostalgia is the only route left.

Murphy Brown, because boomers still watch CBS.

In the current climate, I don't think the vice president making a comment about Murphy having a baby outside of marriage will move the rating meter very much. The show might have to go pee pee tape to get viewers to check it out.

Heh... the entire concept is probably 'Candice Bergen is an old white woman who can say shit about Trump and get away with it'.

I would watch the SHIT out of a NIGHT COURT revival. That show was my JAM when I was like 15 or 16.

I'll admit that after 25+ years of cable programming, Christine just doesn't do it for me the same way she did.

Same for poor Claire Kincaid of Law and Order.

I beg to differ with Abyss.
