That's what I said more or less. Ep3 was fantastic. The humor past 2 eps has taken a backseat and given us story development and what a development that was this week! The show is far more at present from what they were pushing/I was expecting. I'm in.

Yep. They've been pretty well done like early eps of ST:TNG. Both the 2nd and 3rd episode. I think people who stopped after the pilot are missing out.

Macfarlane even had to come out and say that it's not a parody or a comedy, but an homage to TNG...because too many critics assumed it was because FOX marketed it horribly.

But yeah, I'm loving it so far. I really loved Bortis's change of heart came at the hands of Rudolph of all things!....so funny, but also very accurate for how his species might view such a weird colloquial humanism life lesson. Like it made me wonder what Worf might have said if he was shown that special...you know?

Hopefully Seth MacFarlane steps on a banana peel and slides head first into a beehive.

Watched a few cartoons lately:
Gravity Falls -- pretty good, has solid continuity and a good finale, but at two seasons it's just too short. Just wish there was more time for monster-of-the-week episodes and more mythology building in the middle.

Adventure Time -- caught up on season 9. Still the best in the biz.

Rick & Morty -- started this, like four episodes in. It's uhh....ok. Not sure why it's got a cult following. It's like on par with The Oblongs -- mostly middling with some charms and some real turn-offs. I'll stick with it a while cuz I love Justiin Roiland's voice, at least when it's in Lemongrab mode (like Morty is). Rick is a lot more annoying.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I've been watching Next Generation on Netflix, I've seen quite a few episodes before, but never all the way through from the beginning so there's plenty I've never seen as well. Just watched Series 2 episode 2, Where Silence Has Lease. Never seen that episode before and god damn that Nagilum thing is creepy as hell!

Is that the Tar Dude?

Nah, he is in series 1, one evil sumbitch, but not nearly as creepy as Nagilum. He's just a giant weird looking face in a hole in space, it's a frickin' weird looking face. It has no matter or energy, even when it's talking to them the sensors say nothing is there. Made me wonder how it would interact with Q.

That was the perfect image from that episode, worry lol

Yeah he says it shouldn't take more than a third, maybe half. All calm and collected like while he floats there and not there all the while being majestically creepy as fuck!

I was minus 4 in 88, but yeah I can definitely see that episode freaking me right the fuck out when I was younger, I was a wuss as a child.

Sidebar: I had JUST gotten my own small colour TV in my bedroom when Star Trek TNG began...and thus would have been about 10 at the time this aired and it would have messed me up watching it by myself.

God damn just look at that thing, creepy doesn't even begin to cover it!!!
EDIT : Genuinely find that more creepy than Pennywise in the latest film, it was unsettling looking at that face !

I have already shocked Loki today with this but I have never seen an episode of Star Trek! Until today, I watched the first ep of the Netflix show. It's pretty good!

I've only ever seen TNG and Voyager, I've never seen a single episode of the original series, which is one thing I guess, but how on earth do you go through life without seeing a single episode of Star Trek ever? You'd have to actively avoid it I suppose.

I just watched, S2 episode, The Measure of a Man. The one where they have to have a court ruling on whether Data is property of Starfleet and whether he has the right to chose not to undergo Commander Maddox's procedure.

I always remember that episode specifically because my philosophy teacher actually showed us the episode in class one day when we were doing philosophy of the mind, in relation to concepts of self-awareness and consciousness and such. Never before or since have I had a teacher use Star Trek as a teaching aid ;)

Terrace House!!!!

Wife and I are still catching up on the last section. We were back at when Avian and Yuya leave (which was fucking sad...not QUITE as sad as when Hansan left on the last season, but close).

Today is the 30th anniversary of the airing of the pilot episode of STAR TREK: TNG, Encounter At Farpoint.

Goddamn I still love that show. There's something about it that always made/makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Oh I did watch a new show: Me Myself & I. It's got the kid who played Eddie in IT, Bobby Moynihan, and John Larroquette: all playing the same character at different points in time (Larroquette is in the actual future). It wasn't super funny, but it had its moments, and was a decent watch. The youngest version's plot was probably the most generic, very sitcomy stuff. I liked the modern and future stuff more. So yah, decent pilot, the show has the potential to do some cool stuff w/ continuity OR supremely waste an ambitious concept.

You only say this because you don't want everyone to find out you watched WALKER TEXAS RANGER.
