Just finished the season. Really enjoyed it and thought it was excellent start to finish.

So I begrudge paying for another streaming service and didn't really enjoy discovery that much. However QT ranting about how good this was made me want to watch it and I'm currently using a 7 day trial and hammering through them.
I'm only on episode 4 but this is vastly better than discovery. Proper monster of the week this early but its really good. Gonna smash out the rest of the series while I'm able but really enjoying it. -

I watched the first film and enjoyed it but wasn't sure what was going on so I recently read all of them including the last 2. If the next one does well they may well do messiah and have to deal with the Scytale/tlelaxu (sp) plotlines which as you say is controversial. Though later books they do get their own back but it won't get that far, god emperor would work too well as a film for example. -

Kell was meant to be appalled by the Jhistal cult and also pushing the Nameless Ones out of the Empire.
I don't recall a ref to the NOs, but if the link was real they were probably the ones who originally locked up Mael.
The blood sacrifice thing that Gianna escaped would be what Kel would have reacted to.
Potentially and it ties in with the NO taking pieces off the board.
With one eye on shadow he may also have objected to it gor them imprisoning gods. Though ironically shadow does this better than most and is essentially an Azath Warren with an Azath at the centre. -

Some interesting points about Laseen.
Another point I'm not sure if it was mentioned but the Jhistal cult is meant to have a relationship with nameless ones. Was it ever mentioned qt any point?
Kell was meant to be appalled by the Jhistal cult and also pushing the Nameless Ones out of the Empire.
