Who would SE be as Malazan character?

If it's true that all authors share characteristics with their characters, I was wondering who SE would be.
I read his message and I believe in the music section he called us younglings. This brings to mind Crone.
"Hurtle, explain to me what has happened."
"Confusion" Hurtle drawled sarcastically.
Crone cackled. Crone loved a good joke more than anyone."Indeed. Go on, lad."
I'm sure if he looks at the forum from time to time, that prolly what he sees--confusion..but we do indeed go on.

haha, now that you mention it, he does too (apart from the alien bone-structure that forkrul assail have). i however do not believe that SE shares there "peace through destruction" sorta mind-set.
i personally believes that he conveys alot of himself through fiddler. the amount of plot that fiddler triggers and the fact that he's such an impossible character is amazing. the scene that conveys SE best as fiddler i think is the prologue of GotM, where fiddler throws his rusty sword down and dujek walks in, haha.
that being said though, all writers do put alot of themselves into the books they write, and so i believe that there would be couuntless cases where SE portrays himself as one character or another.

He's Kellanved, and ICE is Dancer

This is in no way a criticism of SE's works -- I've loved everything he's written (that I know of...). That said, I feel like SE writes variations on a few archetypes, and his sides come out in those core formulae.
There's "crazy but really a supergenius", a-la Pust, Kruppe, the Ceda, ST (to some extent), even Tehol. There's "enlightened sad/pathetic guy" who starts out with nothing but eventually figures everything out -- Udinaas, Cutter, Paran, I'd put Blend here too. Usually these types are trying to do some good but feel outclassed by the events around them. There's "reluctant leadership guy who everyone loves and will probably die tragically" like WJ, Coltain, Dujek, Fiddler (mark my words...). Other archetypes come to mind.
Clearly there are many characters that DON'T fall into archetypes, although mysteriously possessing knowledge of events around them is pretty standard. Most of the Bridgeburners are completely unique, almost like they're dodging around the archetypes. Karsa is another great example. I always wondered if the BB's were the original players with SE and that's why they're so the exception.
I think the characters themselves are wonderfully written, rich and deep, but at the same time it's often easy to pick out the commonalities between them, the common template upon which they are based. Some of it is obviously intentional (the way many of the Andii share Andii-isms, ditto for the Edur, etc) and some of it seems more like he's just having fun with an idea (Ceda vs Pust, for example).
Just my two cents, of course Don't eat me.

I always imagined him being Dancer more than Kellenved. More cool, calm and collected. ICE is probably Duiker.

I don't think SE sets out to make himself a particular character, his traits will appear in many of his characters as he's in a better place to write about people who have some trait similarities.

SE would be the Errant... who understands the need for balance... , yet brings something unexpected and "random" into the fantasy genre...

Gothos

thats my guess too...
thats who he picked as a shaved knuckle so I imagine he feels more kinship with this character then others (as he knows more about him then we do )
then again, that interview is probably old so maybe its changed.
edit: or that paleontologist (sp) guy... was that Urko?? any way the guy who pimped slapped Karsa knocking him out with one hit...
so we have the historian/observer Gothos or the guy mentioned above who fit best I believe.
You can't find me because I'm lost in the music

Yeah, I subscribe to a lot of these positions transiently, depending on the book (obviously some of these choices have kicked the bucket / not appeared).
I think that it would be impossible not to write a bit of himself into everybody- I mean, they're coming out of his brain, I think there must be at least a minor subconscious level of projection.
But I think he put a lot into Duiker. And perhaps in that book- that was his projection. But I think the focus of each book must take on SE's attributes in order to convey the story as he's seen it in his mind. It would change the story to change the teller, after all.

I bet he's probably a mix of characters. That's what some do, as well as putting the personalities of close friends into characters.
Hmmm.... i wonder if he based Karsa on a friend?
SE: good morning Robert. What a beautiful day. Where are you going? To the pub? I like that place myself-
