Crokus’s crew meet Gruntle on the way to Darijwowzers. Treach claims Mappo and Chaur/Hebroic as his Destriant and SA.

The possie who were in the boat when the jademonkey came down will have special powers. They will rock up to Dari just as some major shit starts going down and kick some serious arse.

Crokus drops that other silly name, (shags that noble chick he robbed in the first book and Sprite and Envy for kicks) turns out to be descendant of the Tyrants and realizes just how far he has grown on his travels as he bashes various minions of evil.

Selugh are reclaimed by the Tyrant and cause a civil disturbance. Envy and Mok come home. Mok bashes the First good.

Surviving BB come out of retirement and kick some serious arse. Antsy gets antsy.

Nom and Vorcan wake up and have a few coffees.

Disfigured Teblor under control of CG are causing a ruckus.

Icariums machine “mysteriously” starts doing strange things.

Kchain wowzers pay a surprise visit to Genabakis.

Rake dies. Sword broken. Much woe and gnashing of teeth.

Draconius family reunion that seems like a Jerry Springer episode with scales.

Kruppe eats too much and gets a tummy ache.

This post: win.

I bet the Moranth have a civil war, or something. What with the new Silver caste of mages, there's bound to be some trouble. Mind you, they live off in dreamland. I mean, Cloud Forest.

The Great ravens turn over to the CG, because they were spawned from him when he Fell and lay groaning. Figuratively.

And of course, like SE said, Torvald Nom will return to darujhistan, take over the Nom family business, and shags Vorcan. Then Rallick, the avenging brother, catches them having sex and throws him out the window, followed by beating Vorcan to death.

But that's just me.

Krupe was always one of my favorite chracters in MBF to think that he would be or could be killed is a shame , I love the way he talks ans S>E> allways intimated that trhrere was more to krupe than we new about a companion to the queen of dreams lookuing forward to reading the toll of Hounds they say its due for release early August 2008 here in oz I certainly will try and get my hands on a copy by import , carnt wait , think Cam Esslmonts books are not up to scatch you get the impression that there published as a favour to S>E> by tans world I was disapointed in them any way as I said looking forward to next installment one of the best reads Ive had for years has been this seires brillant I say .....

How can you say that? ICE has only written one book and it had a lot of promise to it. Remember about statistics, you need at least three examples to get an average. One doesn't qualify to justify anything especially because there were good signs and the first book will be somewhat different to the rest of the published works. It truly was a novella, not a novel. SE's novellas do not match up to his novels, it is a poor comparison to give.

I agree with most of the rest of your points. I'm a fan of Kruppe as he's devious, and he annoys people no end but they have to tolerate him. His way of annoyance is so unique, he's not outright hostile, he's just pompous but brillant at the same time.

While I really appreciated reading the prologue (it really was excellent); I'm still waiting on resolutions to several story lines and the prologue really doesn't give any insight to how the story will evolve.
What happens to the Tiste Andii and Rake; Black Coral is just a moderate march away! I figure Silchas and Rake will get together.
What will Feners do? He was last in Lether but gods can travel easily enough. I expect that Fener will show up, he may even be the hooded one talking with EW and ST in the prologue for all I know. Does he have a deep voice?
I also expect Mappo, the Queen of Dreams, and Ardata to make appearances as they catch up to Icarium. And of course with Leoman and Dunsparrow; I figure they'll meet up with Kallor; that Leoman will be offered a better deal and betray the QoD. Her betrayal will lead to the awaking of Burn without the use of Brood's hammer and save civilization....maybe.

I expect Fener to be related to Gesler & Stormy as his followers, as well as some of the Falari heavies from RG, that we hear talikng about Fener. He has no one left on Genabackis with the death of Itkovian/conversion of the Grey Swords.

Black Coral + Rake were mentioned in the book blurb. Plus, if Dragnipur is so heavily into the story, then for sure we'll see Rake.

QoD, Leoman + Crew are someones I'm hoping for myself. I want to get more info On High House Life (and Light, possibly)

Before Rake gets killed, he tires of Black Coral's only non Andii resident, Lady Envy and, dragnipurs her so she can do the daughter/father bonding thing.

On the serious side, I hope Paran gets some pages and I hope he'll decide to go to Lether to meet Tavore before she leaves and both decide the world has endured the Errant's existence long enough. Paran/QB whip up a plan to eliminate him and the whole affair is Emperor Tehol approved thru his chancellor Bugg who is very sympathetic to their cause.

The thing is, our man Paran was headed up to Quon Tali, not Genabackis when last we met him. Also, QB and Tehol and Bugg probably wont reappear until Dust of Dreams.

I predict the following:

no-brainers: breakage of Dragnipur, possible pwnage of Anomander Rake (the two need not go hand in hand), Clip and Nimander Golit arrive on Genabackis, Draconus and Apsal'ara's freedom, Draconus explaining the whole chaos vs dark situation, at least a partial reveal of the Crippled God's endgame (death of magic/ K'rul, methinks), pwnage of Hounds of Shadow or Deragoth or both.

doubtfuls: furthering of the T'orrud Cabal/ Tyrant/ Seguleh thread, some kind of developments with Caladan Brood and Burn's sleep

1. Brood dies
2. Dragnipur Broken
3. Paran will have knowledge of the Errant, though I don't know if they'll meet yet.
4. Krul will become close to death due to the CG's manipulations or die.
5. Karsa will lose a daughter or two and for the first time we'll see him weep. Then we'll see him rage.

Envy was last seen leaving to escort the Seguleh home.
Paran's heading to Quon Tali as others have said

@ Xander--who gets the hammer then?
Crazy theory--Coll gets ordained to carry on with the hammer....

Maybe nobody gets the hammer, Kud. Although Karsa seems a candidate but nah...he'll never give up that bad ass sword.

Brood is a major wild card because he seems like a guy who will ultimately take his own conscience's advice with whether or not to use the hammer, maybe Rake or Osric are the only ones who can influence him...perhaps Krul as well.

Hmm, I never caught her leaving. The last I remember of Envy was post Seer, when Rake wanted to pay respects to Whiskeyjack and she was badgering. He walked away, not wanting to resume his Seguleh "argument."

Something else I didn't catch tho--p1111 MOI, 'Blend stepped from the shadows, to where Mok lay amidst broken wood. Oh, that mask, so tempting."

Blend wearing Mok's mask when shes not ghosting about could give rise to all sorts of kickass mischief.

Mok had it at the end, after they'd left, when Envy pointed out the crack in it.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isnt me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like hes me. Look down, back up, where are you? Youre in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. Whats in your hand, back at me. I have it, its an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. Im on a quorl.

Maybe the Bole brothers will ask Brood for something to do again and he'll tell him to get their sister and go kill Kallor.

Ten to one it's the one from the wife of the chief.

Yeah I can see that.

Can you imagine Karsa going on a "revenge for killing my daughter" murdering spree?!!?! AWESOME.

I wonder if the CG will have his hand in that cookie jar as well.....

Mayhap, mayhap :(

I'd also like to see the Crippled God break his chains or at least go through some sort of "power up". It's about time for him to start fucking people up.

Well, an SE interview killed my first prediction (having the back story of how Toc and Tool ended up arriving among the Awl), so I'm less confident than I was. Still:
1. Dragnipur will be broken
2. Apsalar Sr. will meet Apsalar Jr.
3. We finally get some insight into Shadowthrone's schemes
4. Clip goes after Rake and gets stomped on (the second part is hope speaking)
5. Errant goes recruiting for his war against younger gods - maybe ends up on the CG's side
6. Karsa says "witness" and kills stuff
7. Kruppe reveals more of his true self
8. Ganoes brings some noble/wealthy woman back from the dead (see prologue thread)
9. Heboric returns, whether in his own body or another
10. The breaking of Dragnipur solves the chaos chasing the gate to the warren of darkness problem, leaving Draconus free to do as he wishes.

Of course, we don't really get a sense of where in the timeline Toll the Hounds starts, so some may not happen this book.
