Just bought all three of the Crimson Empire series by Alex Marshall on Kindle as currently in the UK they are all 60% off and costing £3.99 each. Few of you have recommended these and I'm looking forward to (eventually!) starting them!

I'm sure I didn't pick up on most of these, but I noticed Alex Marshall likes to sneak in little heavy metal references into his prose. Post them if you notice them.

It'll likely be a while before I get to them but I'll certainly keep an eye out when I do!

So my wife got me Waterstones gift cards for my birthday and I didn't a couple hours there today and bought a few books today...

Books 2 & 3 of the Lot Lands by Jonathan French. They didn't have book 1 in at present so they've ordered it in for me.

David Wong's "John Dies at the End" trilogy.

A book that looks like fuses historic fiction, fantasy and probably romance called The Embroidered Book by someone called Kate Heartfield. Not heard of this before but it's an interesting concept and a gorgeous cover.

Two non-fantasy books - "She Who Became the Sun" by Shelley Parker-Chan, a historic fiction set in 1300s China.
"The Khan" a British crime thriller by Saima Mir, an Asian British author, about a Muslim woman who takes over the family crime syndicate in Northern England.

Went on a binge as my too read pile was too small:

Ruin of Angels, book six in Max Gladstone's Craft Sequence.
Books two and three in the Lot Lands trilogy.
Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman.
Age of Myth by Michael J Sullivam.
The Tethered Mage by Melissa Caruso.

The last two were somewhat random buys, but looking forward to the first four. Though the second Lot Lands book is expected to arrive in October...
A bit surprised I seem to be the only here reading Gladstone.

Since they've once again changed the covers to a book series I was collecting and I worried that I'd not be able to get them all in the covers I'm collecting...

I got the final 6 Patrick O'Brian Aubrey & Maturin books. So that's all 20 I own from either gifts or self purchases in a year (I've only read up to 6 so far). I think the only other author I went all-in on that hard was Michelle West.

It's nice to own them all and not have to worry that these specific covers will be scarce when I eventually get to those last volumes.

I did not get 21, THE FINAL UNFINISHED VOYAGE OF JACK AUBREY, as I'm not entirely sure I want to read a half finished one yet...LOL

So I received these, and of the 6 I ordered, 4 came in the new different covers...even though the listing was for the old covers that match mine. I am QT's simmering rage.

So I've now gone on Abebooks and found those 4 in the covers I want and asked the seller to confirm they ARE that cover and not just a stock image...

Yes, I'm re-buying books I already own for their covers....if this set doesn't match on my shelf, I'm never going to be able to look at it...

Yes, I'm crazy. Yes my wife knows about this book cover craziness.

Daughter wants me to order her a teeth whitening kit and I’m considering stacking a book or 3 in with it. I just have no idea what though… do I order books I lost two years ago in the hurricanes(Masters of Rome :( )or do I order something new and if so what? I’m beyond lost.

Probably the only time I will ever read that sentence.

Everyone should have the Masters of Rome series on their shelf.

This is proving quite difficult for now. Have cut myself off from so much idk much on what’s in. Meh anything I get would likely just wind up being read a word or sentence a day anyway.

I have two copies of Gideon the Ninth because I found out about the black edge books after first purchase. I have two copies of Harrow the Ninth because I ordered a black edge through my local book store and they got a regular version despite me walking them through the black edge thing. So I felt obligated to give them money for the screw up and then go out to get the black edge, which by then was more expensive. Oof.
