It's pretty good imo! But if you're doing this to tackle your existing TRP, that's understandable.

They came with white hands and left with red hands.

AMINA has arrived!!!!!!!!

Let me know how it is. It's in my eBook ToRead pile. Excited about it!

Noted - It's on deck w an hour to go STRANGE BEASTS and maybe 4 hours in a popcorn read i may just pause to get into this sooner. I adored Chakarabortay's DAEVABAD trilo and her excitement about this book is utterly contagious.

Also, an older retired female pirate is such a great character to dive into for an adventure.

Am enjoying the hell out of this book, the author upped her game here and the Daevabad trilo was already strong. This is faster pacing, less serious but more engaging. The pirate angle is near perfection.

Didn't know where to put this.

It's a book that's about to be launched on a kickstarter by Anthology editor, owner of The Signed Page, (and webmaster for Terry Brooks, Naomi Novik, and David Anthony Durham) Shawn Speakman and it sounds wonderful. Also, that cover is GORGEOUS.

Kickstarter is launching this week I think?

Anyways, I'm in.

I found out one of the more unique books I love - Vita Nostra by Marina and Sergey Dyachenko - that I thought was a stand-alone dropped a direct sequel a couple weeks ago. So yeah, I bought Assassin of Reality yesterday.

Since I had found those Katherine Kurtz Deryni books the other day on Ebook sale (4 of them so far), I was perusing the used book store and found more of that series for cheap.

DERYNI RISING
DERYNI CHECKMATE
HIGH DERYNI

DERYNI ARCHIVES

THE BISHOPS HEIR
THE KINGS JUSTICE
THE QUEST FOR SAINT CAMBER

All for $2 each. So not bad at all.

This Kickstarter is now live for anyone interested. It was funded in the first 11 minutes or so, and has gone nearly twice more over the asked amount so guaranteed its going to have stretch goals.

So, on a trip to Big W (department store) with the Mrs to pick up a photo book she'd had done up, I made the mistake of walking past the book section.
In my defence it was directly on the way between the entrance and the photo section, but I should have known better.

Sigh.

$164 worth of 4 coffee table books later ...
Not forgetting the 3 x $10 graphic novels (Avatar: The Last Airbender x 2 and Wings of Fire #6) for the boy.
Comes to $194.

But they were so pretty.

Considering the Drizzt book is $77 at Dymocks, I think I did OK.

Now, where to put the bloody things ... :p

Completed purchase of my Deryni set of used books (with their great old 80's covers) for about $25 total for 12 books.

And I also lucked out at the used book store with nearly the entire Deverry series by Katherine Kerr for $2/book in amazing shape for MMPB's from the 80's and 90's. Have always wanted to read them, but never got round to it. Also, these covers are gorgeous 80's paintings....I miss when covers looked like this. I wish they'd go back. I'm glad people like Sanderson still seek out the artists that do them up like this.

Oh, and I got the preferred copy I've always wanted of THE ONCE & FUTURE KING (trade paperback with merlin and kid Arthur on the cover on a backdrop of lush green hills) for $3.

The used book stores in my neighbourhood have been DELIVERING man.

Today I bought The Forge of the High Mage by Ian Cameron Esslemont.

So I am not counting this as failing in my NY resolution to not buy books, as I was given a National Book Token for my birthday, and I used that to get it. I suppose technically I could have waited until 2024 to get it then but I want to read it. The problem now comes that I don't think I actually own a copy of Kellanveds Reach which I have not read. Hmm I'll have to think about that one.

Finally getting around to stacking the new bookshelf.

It pains me to say I understand QT now.
I have so many series that I can't line up because they are a mix of different sizes, HB, PB, MMPB

Yeah it’s brutal, right? It’s okay to buy some used copies to match! Join the club!

The universe: Hey what level of book nerd are you man?

Me: Uh, a new hardcover PRIDE & PREJUDICE edition with Nineteen Letters from the Characters' Correspondence, Written and Folded by Hand by various artists?

Yeah.

They also did one for PERSUASION, so that's going onto my Christmas list...because fuck it, I may as well collect them if they are going to make them.

I impulsively bought Pheby's Mordew at the airport, solely based on the pull quotes "...channels an entire tradition of British fantasy, including Peake, Mieville, and Moorcock..." and "Great Expectations meets Gormenghast". Anyone heard of it?

Someone here was going to read it. I'll take a flier on it in about two weeks when I finish Kate Elliot's second Alexandra the Great in Space book.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.
