While wallowing in self-pity after a bad date, I ambled over to The Strand and bought Islington's An Echo Of Things To Come. It was 17.63$. In paperback.

Gideon the 9th.
£9 for kindle edition?! I don't usually even pay that for a paperback.
Anyhow I've downloaded it; it better be good!

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Grabbed THREE PARTS DEAD by Max Gladstone, based on many recco's here by those I trust and because it was only $3 on Amazon, so I figured I'd take a shot at it. I liked the prologue with the chain-smoking priest dude at any rate.

I think you'll like the sequence, they're all quite short and fast paced too. As well as an interesting world and life/god's/magic system

The first five books in the Prydain series, Vernor Vinge A Fire Upon the Deep and A Deepness in the Sky, and four Deryni books by Katherine Kurtz. All at the thrift store for a grand total of $10. Yay me

I'm currently reading the fourth book of this series. I don't think you'll be disappointed at all.

A few shorter books in ongoing series:
"The Hanging Tree", the next Peter Grant book. It's been a while since I read one of these.
"The Mad Ship", the second Liveship Traders book
"The Red Prince", the 3rd Chronicles of the Long War book. Book 2 was surprisingly good, and I find myself pretty hooked.

It's wizard-lawyers throwing spells made out of contract interpretations and powered by faith channeled through shell companies. What's not to love?!

Don't think I'll be joining in, but I do love Silvia Moreno-Garcia.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Got a raise, time for a few more books:
"The World Raven" by A.J. Smith- the last book in Chronicles of the Long War
"Lies Sleeping"- the next Peter Grant book.
I'm probably gonna be ordering a few more in the coming weeks since I'm gonna have almost 3 weeks off during the holidays to read and game.

Hmmm. 15 USD for the first five books in the series? I mean, I'd practically be losing money if I didn't buy that bundle!

It saddens me that i have owned that ebook for ages but have yet to read it.
I do have the earbook of the first book but i keep procrastinating because i suspect i would want to get the rest immediately and earbook prices are silly if you don't have the audible credits.
