Just bought Sword of Kings, book 12 in the Uthred series.
Get on it kids!

Shit, I’m still a book behind. Catching up now with book 11!

How's your Sharpe read coming along?

Did a tiny bit of post-birthday splurging.

picked up "Grey Sister" by Lawrence
-Also, I was planning to use my Chapters bonus points to order "Luna: Wolf Moon" online. But it turned out that there was a copy in my local Chapters. So I grabbed that, because, why not?

Have made the decision not to buy any more books this calendar year.
I simply have far too many on my TRP

Oh c'mon Mac.
What's one more teensy weensy little book?
Everyone else is buying them... you work hard, you deserve a new book. Why deny yourself this small pleasure?
You give and you give Mac... it's ok to take. No one will get hurt. Go on. Log on to amazon and push that 'buy' button just once.
You know you want to.

I'm down to 16 books in my immediate TRP. But most are doorstopper size.

You're right Macros.

You don't deserve nice things.
New books. Happiness. Naaaaah, that's for other people.
Sure, buying a new book would be so easy, but why would you....

It's been a result of a year-long struggle to no t buy any excess books. And I'm not counting ebooks.

Just added The Grand Dark to the top of mine but it isn't a pile as much as a small mountain where books are added to the top then removed more or less randomly by now.

The last year of not being able to listen to stuff at work has been hell on number of books read this year. If audiobooks where physical I'd probably not be able to move in my living room by now.

So I've been offered Kindle unlimited for 2 months for free. Does anyone know if I could do it, download some books and then read them after I've cancelled the order? As in, I'm not going to be able to get stuff read within the two months but there's no point if I'm going to lose the books after. For example could I stock up on tasty treats for two months or is there a limit per month?

I assume not every book is going to be on it. Like I couldn't sign up for free and then get the new Lightbringer book then cancel?

Not every book is on KU. Most new/high profile genre books are not.
KU is subscription/rental. You own/keep nothing once the subscription is done.

You get 10 books at a time, max. You can 'return' books and take more, but max ten.
You can dl them to the kindle app. I think this allows you to read them offline.
At the end of the trial if you don't start paying you lose them all.
There are apps that claim to allow you to convert KU books to epub and keep them forever. I do not know if any actually work.

Gideon the 9th.

£9 for kindle edition?! I don't usually even pay that for a paperback.

Anyhow I've downloaded it; it better be good!
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I went out to Barnes & Noble to make sure I got the black-paged hardcover so I wouldn't disappoint BK, and I seriously hate to say how much it cost. I was numb the rest of that day! After having read it, though, I'd say your £9 is well spent, and everyone in the ded thread liked it more than I did.
