I suggest the humble sock with half a brick in it which was more than enough to defeat a sourceror and things from beyond space and time.

*lmao* Agreed. And a good pair of knuckle dusters are much more exciting than some sword no matter what it can do.

Is it just me, or do the Lazy Guns sound like a weaponized version of Hitchhiker's Improbability Drive?

Fundamentally, any planet-devstating sci-fi weapon is going to trump most fantasy thingies. How many fantasy weapons can trump a Death Star?

That said...
- It was the Glaive, not the Krull - Krull was the name of the planet.

- Darth Maul's double-saber is infinitely cooler than every other lightsaber until someone comes up with lightsaber nunchucks.

- whatever the weapon, Wolverine wins. End of debate.

- Abyss, somewhat embarassed as knowing the Krull thing...

Not really a weapon per se, but Covenant's White Gold ring is pretty awesomely powerful... can part the fabric of reality and break the arch of time etc. Also the Staff of Law from the Second Chronicles...

So where sci-fi destroys planets, fantasy destroys reality

Maybe it's been mentioned already, but what about our own dear Cotillion's rope? Isn't that just fantastic for being simple, old school and bad-ass all at once? Not in and of itself, but because of the skill of the wielder, which is what's missing from many of these glory weapons listed here.

Meaning no offense, mind. Just that a rope in the hands of an assassin god for me trumps any "point, fire, destroy" gun, even if it wipes out a planet.

And, it can hold your trousers up at a pinch.

Balefire, though not exactly a physical weapon as such.

Other than that the Claw/Talon spring based crossbows.

I'm not pissing on anyone's opinion, but i've never gotten this. Maybe i just haven't read the right Arthurian stories, but fundamentally, it's a bright shiny sword with an unfortunate attraction to stones, maybe with a curious origin from some lady who was swimming and handed it to Art so he didn't see her in her birthday suit.

One might, might, make the case that Ex was unbreakbale, but otherwise it didn't DO anything.

No matter which version you buy, Art was an impressive guy and the sword was his signature piece, kind of like MC Hammer's pants or Ron Jeremy's... wel, you get the idea. But as magic fantasy lit weapons go, the unbreakable sword seems fairly standard.

- Abyss, just wishes it was a vorpal weapon or something.... :(

You're kidding me? That's what they did? I gave up on that series halfway through the first because it was boring and unoriginal, but that's a direct rip off of the Sword of Shannara. Which book isn't exactly original in itself. And frankly that's unacceptable for a series which bigs itself up as being different and unexpected within its own pages.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Well, the scabbard would have made him into Wolverine, but he chose the sword.

Is there any more amazing weapon in fantasy than the ordinary sword.

All weapons shine to be different, but an ordinary sword has character beyond attributes, it's a weapon that is both pearless and mighty but at the same time it is totally unrecognisable. The best weapon is a weapon that gives a skilled fighter a chance to shine, obviously an ordinary sword is a standard weapon so it gives all, roughly, the same equivalent chance. Beautiful.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Carrot's sword, which is suspisciously free of magical enchantments.

Also always had a thing for Tempus Est, the executioner's sword in the Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe.

apart from those.. well, t'lan imass weapons are cool,

I'll second carrots sword, it is so normal it's bizarre. But it does embody the soul of swordiness.
