huh? K'rul is the god of magic. Magic (blood) flows through his veins. Non-dragons USE magic but aren't magic embodied. Dragons are magic incarnate (red blood cells). Azath imprison those who abuse magic (or are harmful to the system), hence they are the white blood cells.

Did Krul lock away the dragons?
Perhaps Iccy is going to try sealing some serious nasties?

In MT, Ulshun Pral/ Rud Ellale tell Feather Witch:

Quote

T’iam, Kalse, Silannah, Ampelas, Okaros, Karosis, Sorrit, Atrahal, Eloth, Anthras, Kessobahn, Alkend, Karatallid, Korbas… Olar. Eleint. Draconean. Dragons. The Pure Dragons. The place where the road comes from is closed. By the mixed bloods who gathered long ago. Draconus, K’rul, Anomandaris, Osserc, Silchas Ruin, Scabandari, Sheltatha Lore, Sukul Ankhadu, and Menandore

So the soletaken/ mixed bloods did trap the pure dragons

And yet Silannah really didn't look that trapped last time we saw her...
It think they imprisoned the feral dragons--the ones that didn't participate in the Shaping of the warrens...and those are the ones we see dead in their many numbers in SD during RG.
The problem with the gene pool is that there's no lifeguard

If by "feral" you mean the tyrant dragons, then yeah i agree. It seems to me that lots of the dragons that died were trying to take too much power for themselves (e.g. usurp Shadow).

I think dragons as a race are tied to the warrens - so there are no feral dragons as you have defined them (i.e. not magic aspected). I think even those dragons have magic, and are aspected. But that's pure speculation on my part.

Your theory about non-aspected dragons is getting more appealing the more i think about it.

My first thoughts on reading the Icarium's machine part of RG was that it was a memory-infuser, but it got me thinking why the machine would suck in modern peoples' memories. Then I started thinking about talk in MBotF about the strength of blood lines and ties between present and past / living and the dead / the memories and the earth.

This led me to believe that while the machine is a memory absorber, it is not just absorbing the memories of those it contacts, but those of all the people that have lived and died in the lether area all the way back through the ages since the machine was built. Absorbing the modern peoples' memories and creating a link through himself and to the earth through his blood, I figure Iccy is creating a kind of memory infusion loop to try and permanently fuse the switch that keeps turning off his memory all the time.

As for the "if k'rul did it, so can I" line (or whatever the exact reading was) in the context of my theory, he's referring to how K'rul bound himself to the earth in the process of creating the warrens. Since Iccy is half toblakai, he may be using a version of his personal warren to create a new and permanent warren and house in the pantheon aspected to memory or some such thing.

The part about "the machine was broken" might be alluding to Iccy's permanent death. If the machine didn't function properly then perhaps the process of turning himself into a warren didn't work out so well and Iccy got shredded.

What do you think of this?

PS I did search this a bit, so if I'm rehashing terribly then let me know and sorry! I thought a new post would be cool since its a new theory.

I like it sucking the history out of the place. It makes sense then that everywhere his temporal maps are he has one of these machines. Which then explains his obsession with time. He goes from place to place creating these history sucking machines to gain his long term memory back. However the Letherii one was his first machine (massive speculation) and he has gone back there to gain his first set of memories. He will now go from place to place getting his temporal maps and therefore all the memories he has lost.
