The only thing with Shogun-JJ that I'm super curious about is Rua's conditioning coming off yet another injury. When he is in-shape and in top condition he can contend and beat almost anyone IMO but I'm worried about him coming back off another layoff. If he's 100% or close to it I completely favor him against JJ and his athletic abilities but if Shogun is more like the one who fought Forrest then I'd be worried.

No one has taken JJ out of his comfort zone and I'd like to see how he responds to someone like Shogun who can exploit his weaknesses and the risks he takes in fights but can get away when fighting lesser opponents. Shogun will put pressure on JJ and make him pay for mistakes if he is in top shape and fights like he has in the last 3 fights. It is interesting to see how Shogun will adapt to facing JJ and not Evans and how Jackson and Co. tweak their gameplan since they were planning on facing Shogun anyway but now with JJ.

I'm pretty shocked the betting opened with JJ as the favorite though.

Do you guys think that Silva is too big to fight GSP? I mean, not only by height but also in terms of body mass. I reckon that he has to beef up first before going against Silva. Yeah, that would be a mega-fight considering both have cleared the division but do you feel that Dana is pushing it on this one? We all know that Silva is not going down to 170, and with Dana even considering Silva to go up to 205, not a fair ground after all. I say that if GSP wins over Shields, take some months to buff up and face Silva on December, and let Okami have the shot on summer. I bet there will be even lesser pro-Shields if this is to happen.

Silva walks around at around 215 or thereabouts, when he's doing maintenance training. When he lets himself go, he can get up to 230. Big guy for 185.

GSP walks around at 200 or so. That 20 pound difference is significant, but GSP can probably put on another 15 pounds of muscle inside a year, while retaining almost all of his quickness (that's where the expertise comes in).

So I was at the Strikeforce event as a member of the press...

I got to see every fight on the card and talked to several fighters.

Man that must have been a blast. I could tell the crowd reacted when Fedor's translator talked about his retirement but what was it like being there in person and how did press row react?

I wanted to get tickets to the Strikeforce event coming up this week here in Austin but saving up for a new car prevented it.

Totally out of the blue. I think it's a long-term bad thing for MMA, as the WEC merger wasn't particularly good for those fighters, even if a select few are getting bigger paydays.

MWKarsa, there's supposed to be a Strikeforce event in Dallas coming up in June. King Mo has said he'll be on the card.

Wow Zuffa is really aggressive. No real options now for top-level fighters who disagrees with the UFC management.

So zuffa plans on operating strikeforce as a separate company. Hmmm. I believe I have heard that song and dance before, back when it was called pride and wec. Once current contracts start to expire it will be over.

I think it has to do with the Showtime contract, which haw 2 years left on it. After that I can see them folding it for sure.

I'm rooting for Shogun bigtime tonight, but I'm pretty damn worried. I see Jones taking him down at will and working some GnP, maybe not as brutal as his last fights. Hopefully Shogun can catch him standing up or pull off a sweet kneebar or something. Jones seemed really amped up/nervous at the weigh ins yesterday, wonder how that will effect him.

And come on LHK CroCop! But sadly I think Schaub will take this one too. Could be a bad night for ex-PRIDE guys.

Oh, and here's to Faber making a run at the BW title!

I hope Wineland wins, in part because I've spoken with the guy and he's awesome and the rest because it'd be flippin' fantastic to have the ATT guys on TUF against Cruz.

So rooting for Shogun. Jones is a phenom for sure, but I really want Rua to win and cement his "Best 205'er Ever" title. His 2004/2005 years were DOMINANT.

I'm a sad fucking panda....... watched all the fights starting with the facebook prelims live. Usually there would be 5-7 people at my buddieds house, only me and him tonight it was fucked up. I was hoping crocpo would be more agressive onight but he did pretty decent until he got fucked uyp. That first puch when he got dropped my heart sank, then the folliw up punch I almost died... what a way to start up the night. Then the main event went somewhat the way I thought, was really hoping shogun would pull something out but fuck me.....

Anyways goodfights, hope fight night next week is good and hope TUF is decent... next event should be amazing as long as nobody gets fucking injured,,, peace

"Bones" Jones lived up to the hype. Impressive victory over Shogun.

Man I was pulling for Shogun last night and I'm not shocked he lost but totally shocked how dominated he was by JJ. I really thought Shogun would be the one to put pressure on JJ and take advantage of any mistakes but JJ just amazed me. Dude was so calm and in control the moment the fight started and honestly looked like he was in a sparring session and not in his first title fight. That performance was freaking awesome. Rashad v. JJ will be worse than Rashad vs. Machida- Rashad can't out-wrestle JJ and the reach advantage will make it impossible for Evans to strike with JJ. This fight will be a massacre.

I agree. Jones really looked unhappy as soon as Rashad stepped into the ring to. Think it was a little naive on Jones part thinking Rashad wasn't going to want to fight him for the belt.

I think jones feels bad about how all that went down. He basically forced rashad out of his own camp, and now is going to brutally abuse him in front of millions. Hell, rashad has already mentioned he wants to move weight classes now, looks like jones might not only take his coach, camp, and title shot, he's going to take his weight class too!

I'm a big fan of jones, and dislike rashad, so this is all quite amusing. I do feel a little bad for rashad though.
