I am very happy they didn't do the whole big-fight thing in this episode, or make it 'perfect', for many reasons.
- they will have something to build on in the coming seasons.
- it's good not to give everything to the fans at once. This way they have more to give.
- And remember guys that this isn't some x-men story - the fighting isn't the important thing. I actually would have been disappointed if they had made a big fight scene. Especially since it's just the first season, and the chacarters are only beginning to find their powers.

I'm mixed about the finale... things felt very stitched together... tho i remain thorroughly hooked to the show.

Things that were bleh...

- Nikki and DL spent like what, three episodes running around Linderman's building? And now that i've watched it twice in two eps, the Linderman shoots DL/DL squishes his brains scene is so poorly staged that Linderman almost has to have been wearing blinders and been stoned drunk to have missed the guy in front of him who he just shot apparently walking around him in big circle and jamming a fist into his brain;
- The Nikki v Candace thing was just painfully trite;
- The big finale... at that point, after the entire season, Nikki et al haven't even met Sylar, Peter or anyone else except for Matt who's lying around bleeding for reasons they didn't see... so why the *&))( did Nikki charge in and skullfnck Sylar with the parking meter???
- Peter has like twelve different powers, this guy has killed him twice, and he TAKES OFF HIS FRIKKIN JACKET and then punches him a few times. All we were missing was Peter crying a bit just before the first punch;
- Sylar just standing there while Hiro runs him thru - yes, yes, i know he was distracted, but come ON, that was lame;
- Matt has shot Sylar already. It didn't work out so hot. He could have maybe come up with a better plan then stand there and shoot him some more;
- the Nathan up up and away so Peter ka-booms safely didn't even give us the credit of a reasonable twist in what we were expecting;
- "The elevator doesn't work!"... countdown to Micah in four, three, two...
- every other character in the series showed up - where was the Haitian?

On the other hand, things i DID like...
- Clare: "I already have a family." *dives out window and faceplants*;
- Hiro outgunning Sylar to rescue Ando;
- Ando to Hiro: "You look badass." - and Hiro grins like a 7-yr-old.
- Sylar: "Looks like you're the bad guy, Peter." - perfect.
- Subtlety point: By Peter saving the cheerleader, Clare was able to reach Nathan, and Nathan saved the world (or at least NYC);
- Molly's ref to someone even worse than Sylar... "He can see me.;
- in spite of the above, Matt charging in had its moment.

..and i agree with Gem - Sylar is totally not end, and it's very possible he'll still end up eating Candace and replacing Nathan, thus giving Adrian Pasdar something to do next year between Dixie Chicks concerts.

All in all, not the strongest episode, but a decent enuf end. I remain hooked.

I'm a little nervous about the ep count being upped next year - that could very well result in more crap filler and lame Hiro storylines, rather than more on-point cool content like invisible guy training Peter, Bennet running around messing with his former employers and Jessica beating the crap out of fat guys twice her size for fun and profit. The 'Heroes:Origins' thing sounds uncomfortably like that episode set in Highlander that featured five entirely new characters we had never seen before, never saw again, and really didn't give a decapitated artist's skull fragment about in between.

- Abyss, doesn't mind when disposable characters get their brainz eaten tho'.

I figured the Sylar getting stabbed by Hiro moment as Sylar actually knowing it was going to happen. He saw the comic, knew it was going to happen and just rolled with it, thus creating a chance for him to escape.

Maybe that's wrong though.

It's a better explanation than any of the obvious ones.

Btw, has anyone read the 'on-line graphic novel' on NBC.com? Are any of them any good, because the few i glanced at really kind of stank.

- Abyss, prefers his tv comics to remain on tv.

I read through some of those. And yeah, I thought they stank too, so I gave up.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Amph, I did!!!

Just finished watching the ep, and I agree with Obdi, Gem, and Abyss on on their points... although Pasdar-whatever-from-Judging-Amy coming back as Sylar-who's-eaten-Candace would be nice. And I'd like to be rid of Candace myself anyway.

I was happy it was anti-climactic. As said before:
1) This is only season 1, don't go for the most expensive fireworks so early, leave something for later
2) Fireworks are NOT the point of the show

EDIT: OH!!! And this new boogey-man. Who the heck?!?!? I was wondering if it's the Haitian...but no way. So. Next question: Who was pulling Linderman's strings? Someone probably was... don't ya think?

D Anders, the guy who played 'Sark' on ALIAS has been signed to play a character next season - some sort of immortal dude.

- Abyss, bets he gets his head cut off.

Puh-lease. It's old school comic convention that no telekinetic can be killed by stabbing. They just seal the wounds with brain power and then come back all vengeful and angry a few months later.

- Abyss, notes good guys would have an easier time if they just read a few X-Men back-issues.

aye, I was surprised Hiro didn't realise this, seeing that he was a comic geek and all..

So, how do people think season two will develope? It will obviously have more to do with the already well established gifted, like Hiro's dad and Lindermans ilk..

And have we gotten a glimpse of Molly's even worse than Sylar guy?

Supposedly David Anders (Sark from ALIAS) is playing some immortal bad guy in S2 who may be Molly,s big-bad. I'm actually curious to see whether they redeem Sylar now that there's someone nastier around.

Oh, and Kristin Bell (formerly VERONICA MARS, which i never watched but was told was great more than once) is on for a few eps.

Promotions have been saying this season will include a bunch of new 'heroes', a look at the longer running storyline with Linderman, mommy Petrelli, daddy Nakamura and the dead guy Peter was nursing.

And then, there's ORIGINS... a six part series of new characters completely not connected to themain storyline. I dunno about the wisdom of that... the lasts eries to try it was HIGHLANDER and ALL the new characters were tossed/never seen again. I always worry when a tv show feels the need to inject new characters when it's got ample mileage to go off the existing ones.

That said, fingers are crossed this year could be awesome.

- Abyss, wonders if Molly could locate Elvis.
