Love IGNEA, although my favourite song of theirs is actually a cover version.

'Cries and pleas, expressed in music, in expansive benefit compilations for and by Ukraine

[...]

Sounds Of Survival [...] This is underground in a horrifying literal sense – coordinated directly with artists in basements as airstrikes hit overhead.

"Being an underground artist in Ukraine has never been an easy path to choose. This war is not only an attack on their lives, but on their passionate existence as musicians.

In the last couple of days we have coordinated this compilation with a sense of the urgency of the circumstances, and the direct need it has created."'

'the surviving members of The Clash have given their blessing to the Ukrainian punk band, Beton, to record a new version of their 1979 classic London Calling. Recorded near the frontline of the battle in Ukraine, Kyiv Calling (above) "has lyrics that call upon the rest of the world to support the defence of the country from Russian invaders. All proceeds of what is now billed as a 'war anthem' will go to the Free Ukraine Resistance Movement (FURM) to help fund a shared communications system that will alert the population to threats and lobby for international support."'

Yuko Suzuhana, from WagakkiBand, did a live stream this morning with cellist Kirin Uchida, playing some quite beautiful classical music. Not sure how long the archive will be available for. The first piece begins at around the 11 minute mark.

Taylor Hawkins, drummer for the Foo Fighters just died in his hotel room in Bogota. Aged 50, same as me.

Damn, he was a cool dude and great drummer. :(

'"Fear in My Heart and Gunfire All Around": The Song of the Ukrainian Tank Soldiers

[Introduction, in Russian:] [Inaudible.] Well, we found a guitar here, and so you don't get upset, here's a song from the Ukrainian tank soldiers.

[In Ukrainian:]
The dark nights are disturbed by flashes of light,
Fear in my heart and gunfire all around,
We must move forward, entering the battle,
Ukraine, we are your defenders.

[Refrain:]
Forward for Ukraine, for our only mother,
For our families who are waiting for us,
We will go into battle,
We will stand as a wall,
We will defend and save you.

Smoke and a cloud of gunpowder surrounds us,
The crack of machine guns and the deadly whistle of bullets,
Those, whose blood spilled here, we won't forget you,
You'll live forever in our hearts.

[Refrain]

[Closing, in Russian:] [Inaudible.] OK, back to the basement.'

Synthesizer V AI virtual singer software has added different vocal modes (for greater expressive variety---maybe more emotional range...):

Virtual tagelharpas (for free Sforzando player):

'These are replicas of medieval European bowed lyres, and commonly heard in Viking music today. They have a rather rough sound, and are bowed with a melody note and one or two drones.'

This cover of "Fade into you" is amazing:

I can almost hear James Van Der Beek crapping on about movies:

'Free Horse Pulse

While working on Three Tagelharpas, we also recorded this library of the bass tagelharpa played pizzicato - which is definitely not the main traditional use for any kind of tagelharpa. It was created with repetitive pulses in mind, so there are five different types of pizzicato with up to six round robins, plus percussive FX.'

Works in free Sforzando player.
