For anyone looking for some free music (very random selection thus far), Adult Swim is giving away 25 singles for free over 25 days. I think it's up to day 17 now. Had a listen and there are some good tunes, but they're certainly not mainstream. The music player is a bit weird but you'll figure it out I'm sure, and there's a download button if you like the track.
And yes, that is Adult Swim the cartoon network.

Crobot's 2nd album was just released. They've got a wicked hard rock, funk sound. I've been listening to the album all weekend.

Did you Canadians all watch the final Tragically Hip concert? I don't know this band at all, aside from their rep over the years, but it seems pretty emotional.

I just saw this post Worry. I'm a Canadian anomaly in that I have always disliked the Hip....I don't care much for Gord Downie's voice....but I freely recognize their contribution to Canadian music and how good they solidly are.

Turned out that this concert was the night my wife was in labour with our daughter...so we were in the early labour room (basically a room with some easy chairs and a TV) trying to get her through contractions which were coming faster and more intense...and the TV was set to the concert. So even though I'm not a fan, I know some songs, and it was nice to have seen such an event...and yes, it was VERY emotional even for me. I mean his diagnosis makes it that much more bittersweet...but a final concert of such a Canadian icon (I'd argue probably the most well-respected and well known band we've ever exported) was a spectacle to see. And now we have a story for our daughter when she's older about the night she was born.

I don't know whether this song is brilliant or offensive (doubly so now that I've seen the video clip). Unfortunately, I don't have any friends (that I am aware of) that the topic personally relates to.
All I know is that the tune is so insidiously addictive that I've already listened to it twelve times.

I can see why that might be considered offensive, but the song is extremely catchy

came across this tune having never heard of the guy before.

Love how simple it is, cool tune, and really like his vocal delivery. Pity it's only 2 mins long.
Also, it's a bit sweary so maybe don't play it out loud at work.

And because i tend to jump around in my musical listening tastes quite a lot, here's an oddly difficult to find live tune from Songs:Ohia that appeared as a prompt in my youtube suggestions

Damn, the singer/guitarist is the spitting image of a young Pete Townshend.

I became a fan of him in high school and I really liked his music back then. His death prompted me to start listening to him again with my improved knowledge and English capabilities. His songs are so much better now that I understand the context and the undercurrents of his lyrics. Like holy cow Hallelujah is basically erotica and back then I didn't like it because I was in my edgy-atheist phase.

His voice is heavenly.

I went down a hellhole this weekend.
It all started with Spencer getting punched in the face on Friday. Someone side "BASH" on the reddit. Another user answered with "THE", and a third user wrote down "FASH".

I didn't get the reference, so I searched the term and came across this beautiful piece of music.

Which led me to start listening to Ernst Busch.

Then I started listening to French communist songs. Then Persian communist songs. Now I'm listening to "Katyusha" and singing along with it (no idea what the words mean ...)

In conclusion, BASH THE FASH and stand in solidarity with you comrades all of you who have sold your sold to the bourgeois pigs.

I'm not generally a big fan of oi punk just as a matter of taste, but that song is pretty great, and the sentiment is A++.
