So where/when will Pallor post their thoughts on Reapers Gale?....8D

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for powerful, "grand" deaths, but I think someone should just die of a heart-attack or something. Or some other physical affliction.
I'm sure there's been one, but I can't really think of them right now.

Well, I see your point, but I guess 'grand' is a matter of perspective.
Emotionally every death of a favorite character is a grand thing...
I agree sometimes I couldn't see their death coming, but SE always make me
feel it is just a part of 'life' in the series, and that it is okay to be sad about
it. It certainly adds thrill to not know who are going to die.
Most characters see that their chances are not great to survive - which I also think is realistic - since they all more or less are living very dangerous
lives. And most of them are also very stubborn, very powerful (in different
ways) persons, that most likely won't go down without a fight. Hence the grandness of it all.
Yes, someone could probably die from a heart-attack, but they are more likely to get into a stiuation that will either put an arrowhead in their hearts or a knife in their gut.
Well, that's what I think anyway.

So a heart-attack would be unexpected, right?

But...death's like that are generally less emotional. I think it's pretty brilliant how SE makes each death so epic; no other author has made me cry like Erikson has.

The only completely spontaneous death was Gamet but because he was only in one book we couldnt really get that attached to him. I know thats not quite true but with Duiker and co you could understand their plight kinda thing

Well, I know that it was kind of grand in the whole grand scheme of things, but when you get right down to it, Dujek, one of the most brilliant military minds in the Malazan Empire, one of its most renowned generals, did not die in the field, he died of the Plague, bedridden and not even half the man he had once been... To me that was one heck of an emotional death... But all it was was a germ... A bodily affliction, albeit brought on by a goddess...

Don't worry Kallor, I came home drunk last night, read your post and got half way through a nasty post before I realized it was chalked full of ypos and went to bed instead.

Yeah, I'll give you that Blend. I did think of that, but the only reason I didn't include it was because it was brought about by a goddess and was still epic in a sense (the plague was sweeping Seven Cities).
I want someone that is so awesome, that everyone loves, to just die a simple, non-heroic death. For me, that's much sadder, because they didn't get a 'noble', or 'epic' death.
Say, for example, Icarium drinking himself to death, could you imagine it?

It's good to hear that lots of characters die, including unexpected ones. But do they stay dead this time? Or will one of them by the Grand Resurrection we've been waiting for for a while?
Oh, and Fiddler had better not die or I will start eating my own brain.
