After Trull's amazing fight w/IC & while re-reading HoC, I came across the perfect weapon for Trull, I hope it's not coincidence but the T'lan Imass spear that rests in the remains of the Azath house, the one which IC destroyed in the Jhag Odhan. Phyrlis tells Cynnigig that all that survived of the Azath's house lifespirit moved into the spear. Somehow if Trull could get his hands on that spear, watch out!! maybe this post should go under crazy theories or Malazan wishes, but it certainly seems feasible since Trull is the only major character who wields a spear, and that spear is the only other weapon of power, besides certain swords. Time for a roadtrip Trull!

no the spear was stabbed through the jhaghut over hat used to be the grounds of the azath. Some amazing magic later the wood of the spear was rejuvinated bonded to the near dying jhaghut and we have a jhaghut stuck in a tree

A better weapon for Trull would be the spear the Soldier left behind, if someone kept ahold of it.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

True that the spear became the tree. I suppose a spear made from the tree's wood would (heehee) have a certain symmetry (tree).

But as Illy points out, the Soldier's spear is also out there. Still the magic'd blackwood on Leth too.

Any other magic wood out there i'm forgetting?

- Abyss, skipped over the obvious Karsa joke there.

AHA

i was just going to make my own thread about this after rereading the book.

The second seglugh aka solider of Hood leaves a spear behind him in the ground and cutter and greyfrog notice it and comment on it.

So trull will get the Spear of Hood

:eek3:

Ah, that would make sense thinking about how and where he fought Iccy. I've not had a reread yet either.

He's likely 'Knight of Shadow', altho that may have only been for the purposes of the reading. We don't know that he's actually ascended and occupies that position.

Tho' standing toe-to-toe with Icarium for that long sure suggests he's moved way beyond baseline Edur. I figure if his spear hadn't shattered, he still would have gone down eventually, but otherwise impressive.

- Abyss, chuckled when Trull noted the inside of his mouth was lacerated from that fight.

I have to admit I thought he'd begun ascension during that battle. Maybe once his ascension is complete he'll be a match for Icarium? Maybe he'll even join Icarium in destroying Rhulad? Now that would be a great scene!

We haven't seen the Seguleh in the past, only in the present. They change with time.

And Trull is certainly the Knight of Shadow. The card was created just for him, and has a picture of him on it.

I was wondering about that spear the Soldier of HH Death dropped myself.

But even if somebody in Cutter's party picked it up at the time, remember their boat went down when the Jade Statues were about to hit the planet. I doubt Cutter or Scillara would bother about it then, even if it were on board...

Oooo... good point re: the boat sinking.... that would put the spear, at best, on the shore of otataral island.

But the coincidence of a 'spear of death' left lying around does seem like a Trull link, more than anything else. Barathol used an axe, Cutter used knives.

- Abyss, won't get into what Scillara used.

No mention of him being Seguleh...just that he's the second. Anomander's ranked but he just chooses to ignore it (with that arrogant indifference to everything, which I admire so much!) and not wear a mask...he's certainly not Seguleh.
