Deathslayer is the Crippled God. If the description of the card itself is not enough, just trust me. That Bottle doesn't actually meet the Crippled God in BH is entirely beside the point. He's obviously going to be a major figure in the conflict and that's the connection being made in Fid's 'game'.

The King of Chains is Rhulad - he is sitting on the Throne "screaming", plus the shadows all around cleary point to a Tiste Edur. Deathslayer must be the Crippled God cos Gesler, when asked 'who could that be' says "That's impossible, how can he be two things at once" - Withal has no other position.

Actually, thinking about it that's a bad arguement - if Rhulad is the King of Chains then CG has no other position. Hmmmm....

but the CG was never ment to hold a position in the House of Chains. He stated so himself.

Deathslayer is obviously the CG

The CG already said that he doesn't have a position in the House of Chains, he's just the one bank-rolling it, if you will. So Rhulad could have the position of King Of Chains, even as a puppet of the CG, like everyone else in that House.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I believe that Rhulad is the Death Slayer, I don't remenber who talked about this idea first, but look at what we have :
Gesler says that he cannot be in two place in the same time, that means that the card was already seen by them, the card of King in Chains corresponds.

The Death Slayer, is in the House of war, Rhulad is a fierce warrior (point a little brittle as Herboric was in the house without being a warrior).

By the name, Death Slayer seems to act as the conterpart of the Life Slayer, logically (I think), the DS must be a great warrior too, strong enought to hold Icarium for a time, Rhulad fits this point almost perfecftly...

And as somebody said, Rhulad keep escaping (shamefully) the death and the Hood's kiss.

Well, I don't believe to have forgotten something, so what do you think of that ?

Maybe Deathslayer could be a weapon, soon to be forged by the Meckros smith, and further more its future wielder.

Then, you are probably better off asking questions than asserting falsehoods :p

new Unaligned added in the Bonehunters:

Deathslayer (The Crippled God, the description is unambiguous)
Lifeslayer (Icarium)
The Apocalyptic
Salvation

High House War

Lord of WolvesLords of War - Togg and Fanderay
Hunter - Treach
Guardians of the RoadDead - Bridgeburners?
Mercenary - The Perish? The Crimson Guard?
ArmySoldier - ??

In my work on the Deck, I'm treating the House of War as a subset of the Unaligned, which SE approved of when we spoke about it ...I hope this helps resolve some of these questions :p

I had got the impression somehow that Karsa was Deathslayer... Maybe I just think of him as being unaligned no matter what the CG wants and in opposition to Icarium!

Rereading Bonehunters (at a slower pace) :p

Is it just me, or is Dunsparrow lined up for "Virgin, HH Death"?
(I suppose "Virgin" is meant to be metaphorical...)

Leoman of the Flails seems suited to the position of champion in high house life, as he now serves the queen of dreams, due to his escape from the seige

I love the fact that HHL seems to be one of the more vicious of the houses.. Anti-clichés always appeal to me

Grab life by the horns and deal with it! They probably go with something like that for a motto. :p

Quote

'The Army and the Soldier - I don't know - two names for this, which may be determined by context or something.'

From this it sounds like it's just one card.

As for Life and Death Slayer, there is cause to actually place them in the House of War. It's Stormy wanting to see the entire House.

Quote

'Pull 'em out again, Fid. Let's see that House of War - all the cards in that House.
...
'Any more?'
'Two, and I don't like these ones at all. Here, Life Slayer...'

And then Fid explains the two Slayer cards. So it might well be that they're not unaligned but of House of War.

And on a final note, I seem to recal mention (in MoI perhaps) of a card in the HH Chains called Mortal.

Okay I'm really tired and can't remember much about Fid's reading, so correct me if there's anything that is disproved.

I would have put the Seguleh Second as the Knight of High House dark. And I would have done that purely because I thought Soldier was already taken (okay I realise these two could switch places, but for some reason this guy I'm about to mention struck me as Soldier, not Knight. There may have been some quote at the time that I don't remember or something). In one of the books someone (shit I really don't remeber this part well, I hope someone can fill in the gaps) runs into a guy on a horse who is one of Hood's servants. I always pictured him as soldier like, and he leaves screaming about chasing down Skinner of the Crimson Guard. Does anyone know who this guy is, or remember more about this scene? (not that that last oparts difficult :)) He just seemed too loquacious to be the Seguleh Second we meet later

I did just read an interesting quote from NoK (it is not really a spoiler, as it just sounds like a pssing bit of info, as oppose to really being a part of the story, but Iam going to spereate it anyway) (and no I don't know how to do the spoiler thing, so Im going to put it down lots, and shrink it, so its nice and hard to read by accident)

Spoiler

"So how'd you save the world?"
"Averted the rapture by drowning the baby Jesus in his own tears"

The scene you mentioned is when Heboric and Cutter check out a monastery of D'rek. They find everyone dead and Heboric goes into the stables to look for supplies. Then the Soldier of High House Death (who IS the Second) pops out from his warren (apparently thrown out by Hood is more like it) and strikes a conversation with Cutter. They talk about the Seguleh and about Darujhistan and some very strange things were said. Well, things that are of yet unexplained. I don't know where else you think we meet the Second.
And you don't have to worry about that quote, I've seen it mentioned in several other places, so no real spoilers.

I am doing my first re-read of TBH, and in fact I just finished the section on the firestorm. But I don't recall seeing Oponn caught in the firestorm. Can someone point me to a page?
