Yeah I knew Baudin was the Knight, I guess I just figured that Knight and Soldier were the same. Thanks

With the segulah second, I assumed that he was the original second, then stopped wearing the mask when he was killed (by Skinner?), because having been defeated, he was no longer the legitimate second, and so would be violating a segulah code of some sort.

Exactly - dead Seguleh don't get to keep their positions in the hierarchy.

Presumably he still carries the mask because whoever killed him was ignorant of Seguleh customs, and doesn't know they are the Second.

Surely that depends how he died?

Dunno - if Tool had defeated Mok, he would have been Third and undead.

- Abyss, wonders if that's like third and ten yards to go.

Just a thought-if there were other seguleh were aware of the fight between the former second (who i'm pretty convinced is now the soldier of death), they'd have kept the mask and demanded that whoever killed the second take it. Recall what Mok said about Rake in MoI, saying that the seguleh demand that he claim the seventh mask and position

The fact that he's a bridgeburner doesn't necessarily mean that he is whiskeyjack... there are a hell of a lot of bridgeburners out there, many of them could have been the mezla, Iskar Jalak, after all Whiskeyjack has never been a prophet has he?

I dont think whiskey jack has ever mentioned being a prophet, but did he ever have any deals or work with hood in any way? I know he stole his sister from hoods Temple. What was the name of the first sword that killed daseem (supposedly)?

Wasn't Dassem (supposedly) murdered by the Claw? I think there's Bottle's or Fid's comment about it just prior to the battle of Y'Ghatan...

Read NoK for that answer. Don't wanna post spoilers here

My own new pet theory, presented for your consideration:

During the Ritual of the Beast, Dissembelackis veered into 7 mules!
They were scattered to the 7 corners of Wu. So far, we've seen 2 The rest remains hidden....

This is my crazy theory: I think Vorcan, of GotM fame, is in fact the Seguleh first. She is only ever seen in a plain, unmarked mask.
Other than that, I have no reason for this outlandish theory.
Get to the chopper!

Possible, no swords though. I think we will find out more on the Segluth in the next book. Looking forward to it.

Come on SE chop chop!
"I think i was a bad person before. Before this time. I do not try to be good now but i am not bad. Perhaps if i try harder i may get a better hand dealt next time? But surely that makes it pointless? Perhaps i am good. Just good at being pointless. But that would make me bad. Bad at having a point. Ah…. I see now. I was nothing before, I am nothing now. I am bad purely because im pointless. "

The greatest trick the mule ever pulled?
Convincing everybody that he didn't exist.

I like it. Do we have a gender for the Seguleh first? He/she did get some references in MoI.

I agree with the crazy theory of WhiskeyJack being Iskar Jarak, during boot camp our Drill Sergeants would subtly change our names in either insulting or amusing ways. We had one guy named Natches who became Nachos, Peck became Pecker or Peckerwood, depending on the DI's mood. So I think in an inspired moment Braven Tooth went, "Iskar Jarak? That sounds like Royalty to me boy!!?! are you Royalty Boy??!? Alright, you're name's now WhiskeyJack, and if I catch you with Whiskey or Jackin' It You WILL END UP A STAIN IN YOUR OWN SHORTS!!!!!"
a little artistic license with that if you please,
Also, Iskar Jarak was named the Iron Prophet by the Anibar, not like he proclaimed himself as such, also, all he ever said was common sense and a little bit of vague mysticism "A savior will come" words any commander uses to keep hope alive. Don't forget Iskar Jarak could also be their mistranslated version of Whiskeyjack.

Only problem is Whiskeyjack is his real name, like his sister he's named after a bird.

Also dispite the timeline discrepancies, I believe that WJ started in the army before Fiddler and it was Fiddler that started the naming of soldiers.

Yes, what Lancelot said. In BH Fiddler remembers giving Braven Tooth his name after he left a tooth in Fids shoulder.
