And managers were yelling about getting people back in the office, probably because they couldn't bully them properly. I fear what most would do with a four day work week. Theyll go "ah we pay you less then because you work less hours".
The meaning of life is BOOM!!!

Trump says US and Iran have held talks on ending war in Middle East as he postpones power plant strikes...good. End it quickly, and we'll hopefully only deal with a single decade of energy costs being too unaffordable.

You gotta make Israel stop too...but otherwise yes...please stop the war of choice you started you orange imbecile.

While we can't believe anything he says (obvs)...I DO believe he's scrambling for a way out of this war as energy pries are going to absolutely FUCK them in the midterms, which were already looking shaky. And apparently a ruby red Texas election went to a democrat by like 13 points on the weekend...so you gotta think each one of these deep red losses is a signifier.

Also, his fave thing to do is stir a pot and then stop stirring that pot, and then claiming victory over the pot he intentionally stirred.

He wants to chicken out... but the Iranian government seems determined to exact revenge and deter him from attacking them again. Energy prices are probably going to go much higher before they completely reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The stuff about "productive talks" is most likely just bluster to save face and reframe chickening out as victory. The Iranian government says he's lying:

Quote

Iranian state media portrayed Mr. Trump's announcement postponing strikes as a sign that he was "backing down" after Iran vowed to retaliate for any U.S. attacks on power and energy sites and denied that the countries had held talks.

And Iran has countered saying they are not in talks and said "There are no talks, the US has failed, and the strait of hormuz will remain closed"...so there goes that notion up in smoke just like every other BS like Trump has ever uttered.

Q: what’s the difference between Iran and Vietnam?

A) Trump had a plan to get out of Vietnam

Yeah, I doubt that's happening anytime soon. They want war, and they're not going to stop as long as the orange buffoon belongs to them.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

This is very true. Netanyahu is a bloodthirsty POS who has been trying to get the US to do this since Reagan. It's insane that all they needed was a useful idiot former game show host conman.

New York Times points out that Trump announced he was chickening out just as the 10-year Treasury yield seemed on the verge of rising past 4.5%---about the same as when he announced that he was chickening out on his first round of "reciprocal tariffs" last April.

People seem to think his announcement was market manipulation of the stock market again...which...I mean he's done this time and time again to enrich himself and his buddies and Republican cronies.

Oh and Hegseth apparently said that Iran is "spending all its money on missiles and weapons and none on the people of Iran"...the cognitive dissonance is so loud my fucking ears are ringing.

Was re-watching TOMBSTONE on the weekend and this bit reminds me of old Orange shipmaster:

Wyatt Earp: What makes a man like Ringo, Doc? What makes him do the things he does?

Doc Holliday: A man like Ringo has got a great big hole, right in the middle of him. He can never kill enough, or steal enough, or inflict enough pain to ever fill it.

Wyatt Earp: What does he need?

Doc Holliday: Revenge.

Wyatt Earp: For what?

Doc Holliday: Bein' born.

Armed Struggle Liberates Iraq After 23 Years Of Occupation

After weeks of attacks by Iraqi resistance groups, the US and NATO yesterday began evacuating all of their military personnel from Victoria Base in Baghdad.

They are unlikely to return.

This is an unprecedented, momentous achievement, and follows the January withdrawal of US and NATO troops from the Ain al-Asad airbase after years of attacks.

These withdrawals mean the US presence in Iraq is now confined to Kurdistan.

Iraqi fighters, with the support of Iran, have effectively decolonised their country, 23 years after the US invasion, and six years after Iraq's parliament voted to expel US forces.

... though IDK why they think the US and NATO are "unlikely to return"...

Just another notch in the "US Regime Change has never helped the country their invaded to grant freedom onto" bedpost...I dunno how anymore times they need to od with before the war Hawks in the US get it that this is stupid, a waste of money, and the people who they claim to be freeing don't want it.

The Iranian diaspora is learning this in real time...our Iranian friends in Canada are SUSPICIOUSLY quiet now that we are weeks removed from the Ayatollah being, killed and them calling that the "great day of their lives"...now that the bombing and "who cares who gets killed" attitudes of Trump and Netanyahu for the citizens on the ground ....I said to my wife at the time...they have no idea what "Regime Change by the USA" looks like, and they need to look at Iraq or Libya for the evidence."....and I'm awaiting the day they message her and understand this fact.

The USA doesn’t export ‘freedom’ to help others. That’s just the line they use to make real politik sound palatable. They have said it so often that sometimes the politicians themselves forget it’s nonsense and they end up in Afghanistan for 20 years for no reason but the 2001 war was not to free Iraqis or to free Afghanistan .

No one in the US government really cares about freedom for Iranians except that an Iranian revolution throwing off the IRGC would be good for America as well. So yes supporting Iranian freedom could be a tactic worth pursuing but it’s not the end goal it’s the path.

If such a revolution was the goal they would have needed an Iranian partnership on the ground. The catch 22 for Iran seems to be that as far as freedom goes they can’t do it without help and without help they can’t grow big enough without any safety to be a reasonable alternative to the IRGC. No one should be suprised Americas out for America.

The fear Americans need to have ,and Europe too it should be said, is it’s easier to slide into a dictatorship than it is to climb out of one. Thats the only lesson I see from this.

Iran has been saying there've been no discussions, official or otherwise, but other Gulf sources say that's not true, Oman has continued to act as an interlocutor, joined by Turkey and Egypt.

It certainly sounds like Trump is preparing some kind of ceasefire. Netanyahu is panicking, saying the conflict will still last "weeks."
