I already explained this, but I’ll try again:

Taking planets takes infantry. That means taking an even bigger fleet over to a part of the galaxy I have no real interest being in (or, more accurately, having my ships stuck there when they could be more useful elsewhere). You already saw how close that battle came to going a second round, and that was with a Dread, a Carrier, and a full complement of fighters.

Feels like I should start getting hesitant to swap commodities too eagerly with the southern players, maybe it's a better overall strategy to give you a ship instead if you're up for it.

I currently have it on IH as he’s got Trade, but I’m happy to switch so long as I know that other person will be refreshing.
