New space map is already setup so fast it could be a starcraft meme...

(I used the balanced map generator website (https://ti4-map-gene...rekpeterson.ca/) to pick the map - was just idly re-clicking the generate button over and over again and ended up with this one where the gravity rift was in the hyperlanes area plus the wormholes next to it, which was awesome so we're doing this one. It looks pretty balanced to me in either case.)


Randomized start order:

1. Tatts
2. Twelve
3. IH
4. Morgoth
5. Blend


In this order, choose a starting position and ban one faction.
Then, players will choose their faction (in this same order).
The last player to choose (Blend) will be the starting Speaker.


(I've found the snake draft from the last couple games has been too beneficial for the earlier picks - getting the best home system and still at least 11 factions to choose from and getting to see the factions chosen by your neighbours before you have to pick so you can counter them is way better than being the later pick. So I wanted to try this system instead.)

Northwest is an interesting position, where I can try to be a little more active, which was my plan last game (though it failed miserably since I didn't consider how sloooow the Muaat are early game). Lots of movement, though not the greatest of early systems.

I think you put a little more importance on counterpicking than I do. In this case, I don't get to choose my starting location, and 9 of the races will be unavailable to me... Still thinking a snake draft would have been better/more fair, but *shrugs*

Might be better picking in private in reverse. That way you get the faction you want without the counter. For future games maybe. I do like having all the races to choose from but I will be pick by safe so IH and Twelve dont Saar me again ha
