Agreed. I've heard her speak about Guinan and she said she enjoyed her time as the character immensely because she felt like a moral centre on the Enterprise and that was super rewarding.

Haven't watched it yet but caught an interview w the actor who plays ex-Borg Hugh... have to say, it looks like the writers room put a LOT of thought into this series. Sure, they worked in every ex-cast member they probably could, but the promos show a Borg angle and lo, 7o9 AND Hugh are there... someone's at least connected a couple of dots before being told to work in Riker and Troi because they were free that week.
Am very keen to see how it goes.

Was watching an interview with Jeri Ryan and she clues us into the fact that Seven actually holds Picard responsible for the things in his past, and doesn't put him an where near the pedestal everyone else seems to....so that conflict should serve up some solid interactions for both actors.

I feel like this is going to be a REALLY special show that elevates just who Picard is and why we all need him still.

Star Trek: Next Generation was the best! I'll always have fond memories of doing homework in elementary and middle school to Next Generation.

The character Q was always a bonus for me, too.

So I KNEW that the girl (twins it turns out) in it would be associated with Data (daughter) because of how much the actress they chose looked like Lal (Data's brief daughter from TNG years), but this was still nicely done.

Speaking of, I was not expecting Bruce Maddox (And the Daystrom Institute) to get a mention, and I HOPE they have the same actor who played him on TNG reprise that role.

The opening scene/dream with Data was lovely. As was the scene they shared in the wine fields.

I was NOT expecting the "androids went nuts and made Mars unlivable" as part of the Romulan rescue stuff that Picard was a part of.

I was also NOT expecting him to be living with two of the rescued. so that was cool

Seeing more than just a static shot of SanFran/Starfleet HQ for "futuristic earth" places was nice...that shot of Great Future Boston. Lovely.

I LOVED when Picard went off about Starfleet in his interview. It really sets the tone that Starfleet has fallen far from the ideals he learned when he was in it.

Also, I know the Borg were involved in the show, but that pull out shot at the end of the Romulan Reclamaiton Site being INSIDE a Borg Cube, and that's where the twin sister is...wow, that was a hell of an image to end on.

I also love that Picard is STILL Picard. HE may have been through some shit and lost faith in Starfleet....but he hasn't (in his old age) forgotten WHO he was and what he learned in his youth.

If the rest of the season is like this, we are in for a damned treat!

EDIT to add: Seeing the slightly updated version of the LCARS computer interface in the Archives that Picard was looking at made me tear up...not gonna lie.

I wonder if a discussion of the effects of the dominion war will be brought up. Star fleet fighting the dominion was a major catalyst for them becoming more militant
