So you haven't read any Goodkind I take it ... ?

It’s certainly Whelan but it already has a large black mark on it featuring that head case Shallen which has to be my single most least favorite character in any series I’ve ever read. Lovely coloring though.

Maybe it's Veil or Radiant on the cover. :killingme: Not exactly an improvement to Shallan, though.

I'm starting to get pretty excited for this book. I'm avoiding the preview chapters, but people are saying they're exciting with some good Cosmere lore.

I've read the 4 recaps from 17th Shard here
and I recommend it if you need a refresher. And as always, the Coppermind Wiki is one of the best Wiki's you'll find for a fantasy author.

I just hope the Dawnshard novella comes out with enough time for me to read it before RoW.

Yeah it's separate. It should be sent to Kickstarter backers for a TWoK special edition any day now, then sold to the general public after that.

Yeah I spent about 20 minutes and decided to stop before I spent hours going down rabbit holes. Really well done and that timeline is awesome with the effects it has.

There are 3 video reviews out so far. Based on the reviews I expect some mixed reactions to this book, like with Oathbringer or possibly even moreso.

A summary of some of the controversial points from the reviews:
Spoiler

I guess I can't post the videos. The reviews are by Daniel Greene, Merphy Napier, and 17th Shard.

Based on the reviews I'd say there's a decent chance you'll struggle with RoW

Slogbringer v2 for you BK by the sounds of it, I think I'll struggle too tbh. 200 pages too much which is what I thought about Oath...

Was hoping for Rhythm of Bore, but Rhythm of Ass made me chuckle

Book is out. State your place in book and tag your reaction please.

Might be awhile before I can get it.

I'm still reading another book, but I might start it today to see how I do with it.

Oh and here is the TOR quick and dirty recap of the story so far for anyone like me who has trouble keeping it all straight all this time later.

Prologue down so far only (it's been a horrendously busy day).

Spoiler

The Adventures of Lift, Szeth, Nightblood & Wyndle is what I'm hoping for most out of RoW...not gonna lie. But I'll be happy to just see them all.

I've also read just the prologue so far. Looking forward to reading more.

Here's what Sanderson said about his favorite chapters in the book, without spoilers:

Quote

Part One
Favorite chapter in Part One: Chapter Twelve

Most difficult chapter in Part One: Chapter Seven (Getting the foreshadowing and viewpoints right required a lot of revision.)

Part Two
Favorite chapter in Part Two: Chapter Thirty-Four

Most difficult chapter in Part Two: Chapter Twenty-Four (This is one of the new chapters I had to add late in the process, in order to make this viewpoint sequence work.)

Part Three
Favorite chapter in Part Three: Chapter Sixty-Six

Most difficult chapter in Part Three: Chapter Sixty-Seven (This viewpoint character had a lot of revisions through the process to get them right.)

Part Four
Favorite chapter in Part Four: Chapter Eighty (This is actually my favorite chapter in the book.)

Most difficult chapter in Part Four: Chapter Ninety-Three (Probably the single most revised chapter in the novel, and it required a lot of continuity, delicate foreshadowing, and help from beta readers.)

Part Five
Favorite chapters in Part Five: a sequence that starts in 105 and ends in 110. This is actually a central sequence from my very early outlines, which I’ve mentioned I’ve been waiting over a decade now to share with you all.

Most difficult chapter in Part Five: Chapter 105. You’ll see why.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the book!

@BK
Just wondering why you don't use a kindle for your books or order them online. You always talk about how your local bookstore doesn't have what you want or you have to drive to other cities to get books (unless I'm confusing you with someone else). Why not save your time and gas and order them to your house? I am really just curious because the only time I buy a book in person is at a rummage sale or thrift store, otherwise I order them.

Part 1 Chapters 3-5

This book is already better than OB...for starters...

Spoiler

Seriously, zero complaints so far. This is very much in the WoK and WoR mode for me over OB mode.

QT re your last point, that was one of the big revelations at the end of Oathbringer

I’m on chapter 12 and really enjoying everything about this book. And I struggled to get into OB. Now I have seen reviews say that the book slows down after part 1, but I’ll try to go in with an open mind.

I had a feeling I missed that in OB since it’s not really hidden in RoW.
