1. Playing Hacan, I start to appreciate the rulebook's directive of "during the active player's turn, he may resolve up to one transaction with deal with each of his neighbors.".
I haven't really explored all the options (and certainly not turned transactions into auctions like Blend did in game 1) because I have limited time I can spend on thread, but imho there is currently just a little too much room for gaming the system as it works in table top.
Shenanigans like the one I am pulling with multiple 2:2 trades of commodities in the same turn before and after building are perfectly legal as the timing of the table top is much looser than what forum play allows (you can even make transactions during combat), but our system for example allows me to do a 2:2 exchange, take my tactical, then do a 2:2 with the same player again. I haven't exploited that particular loophole yet, but it has crossed my mind.
I would suggest that we try next game the rule as written, especially if/when Hacan and Mentak are played, to gauge the effect of it.
We can try it, but I think the secondaries deferring to the start of the player's turn will be a big problem/nerf of it as a result. In an IRL game with no house rules, Hacan can, for example, play Trade and immediately exchange with all other players, perhaps even making the free refresh conditional on them trading to you or paying you 1 commodity, and it's all binding transactions, too, because the timing is all immediate.

This does not allow others to initiate transactions with me during their turn unless they neighbor me.
I can see your point, but I don't think that's how the designers wanted it to be interpreted (and as per this BGG thread: https://boardgamegee...-ships-question).
