Prophecy is strangling. Fitting for Jaime tbh.

I've always been partial to the symmetry of it being Jaime - finished off Aerys and then Cersei. But we shall see!

I honestly cant see how they will wrap this up satisfactorily but Im keen to find out. The Night king is finally on the march and they 5 episodes left to fight him, win, defeat cersei and set the path to rebuild. A tall order.

Looks like they will miraculously discover Valerian steel the next episode and winterfell will already be under siege.

Satisfaction is subjective and no matter how they end it, some will feel let down. I don't expect much in the way of wrap-up, though.

I want Brienne to kill FrankenGregor. She can stab him but I suspect one stab wouldn't do.

Also no idea if its significant but john was the 998th commander. He reliquinshied it after dying and being resurected. So some guy whose name I cant remember is unofficially/officially the 999th commander. I feel like their has always been a plan to get to 1000. Though why that would be significant beyond being a really cool number I dont know,

I didn't much like this episode. It was a lull and they could have done a much better job of making it interesting. A lot of the important stuff that happened seemed forced, like Sam giving his sword to Jorah, and Jon spilling the truth about his parentage to Dany at the end. Dany's conversation with Sansa was also stilted. I guess Gendry x Arya is good; I'm glad he told her about his parentage finally. On that note, was Tormund jealous of Jaime? Not sure if that vibe was intentional. I just feel like these first two episodes were extremely subpar and the kind of thing you expect to see when the writers are having trouble wrapping up loose ends. There's a lot of good stuff happening but the execution is lackluster. It doesn't bode well for the rest of the season, though I suppose it's possible that the rest of the episodes will be better. It seems they were all written by B&W?

Once Sansa catches wind of Jon's secret, whooboy, watchout. Even though Dany made an attempt to lower the volume between her and Sansa, Sansa aint hearing no future (if there is one) where the north capitulates to Dany on the Iron Throne and Jon's secret would be the perfect buttress.

Also, Dany was all like - oh no he didn't *two snaps in the form of a Z - 'boyfriend, it's too conspicuous and convenient now that your brother and best friend would give you the story that you are Aegon Targaryen, aint nobody got time for that' *a finger wag, and a clap motion that says I will dog walk you all the way to King's Landing.

So the crypts are going to become the walking dead, right?

Yeah, I caught the irony of hiding in the crypts too. An allegory in there somewhere that when the army of the dead are knocking at your gates the only safe place is hiding in the crypts with the dead (or is it? *evil finger tapping Posted Image). I was wondering though, do you think the line of Starks down there will rise up, but instead of joining the Knight King, instead fight for Winterfell?

Also, along those lines. Beric Dondarrion has died and come back, and Jon Snow has died and come back. Do you think that imbues them with some advantage against the white walkers?

I can't think of any good reason why the Starks would have any more free will as zombies than anyone else. Seems more likely to be a source of tension, with Tyrion down there and other folks who pledged to protect the crypts. As for Beric and Jon, I dunno. They've both fought white walkers already haven't they?

Thoughts:

- My Tyrion x Sansa ship got some real wind in the sails tonight

- Varys still alive to drop Joanna bombs if need be

- Jaime still on track to valonqar

- holy shit it's a miracle that anyone survived this episode

- I'm glad Arya's training wasn't just to kill Cersei or something like that. (Though that's still possible I guess. I just hope not.)

- I definitely did not expect Cersei to be the final boss of this story

- We were wondering how they were going to wrap up all the loose ends, and now it's like "wow there are three extra-long episodes left"

RIP:

Dolorous Edd
Lyanna Mormont
Beric Dondarrion
Theon Greyjoy
Jorah Mormont

White Walkers and Wights

The resolution of the Night's King was very underwhelming in my opinion. I guess it boils down to the Children created him to fight humans, and he went off the rails. Very one-dimensional villain really.

Don't get me wrong thought the episode itself was EPIC, but the resolution of NK was bland.

I'm quite glad it returns to Cersei.

At one point there I was thinking that it was a bit of a shame to have reduced the 'game of thrones' to a zombie mash. All those dothraki, whose loyalty Dani earned; transported in ships to claim her homeland, all that development from the first books just thrown away in a dumbass charge against the undead.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Is it assumed that Ghost is dead? Or is he still out there somewhere?

Also, undead Viserion is finally 'dead'. So if your R.I.P. definition is expanded to include those who are no longer animated, then I guess you could include him as well. *pours out some Dragon's Breath Chocolate Stout. Posted Image

This is the weaker thread with less comments, so I expect it to die out as the other one takes full control. It's a battle of the Threads!

More thoughts:

- I was hoping Sansa would end up in the crypts but I was hoping for more of a parallel to Cersei at the Battle of the Blackwater than we got, especially since Cersei gave her the whole spiel about how it would be her responsibility one day. They didn’t draw any deliberate parallels as far as I can tell and that is a real fail on the part of B&W.

- I was hoping to see more of Tyrion fighting in the crypts but every time he attacked the scene cut to Jon? I think that was what happened but it wasn’t really clear.

The other thread discusses GoT as a TV show, while this thread discusses it as a literary adaptation. Totally different things.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
