Vin diesel may well be hot, but I'm talking about actors here, not jumped up models trying to look tough. He cannot act to save his life, and in every film he is just the same old boring character. Mel Gibson, now there's an actor...

Why isn't this in some forum that I actually visit? Hence me being largely ignorant about CoD for about half a year....Ah well. Should be awesome.

I feel the need for a Abyss-like signoff here...

Asheroth, is SO going to be an extra.

Eric Bana could be someone... I did like him, but I agree. He seems too... i dunno, nice, to be playing someone who is basically a big hard cold blooded ruthless commander. Laurence Fishbourne could. Is Coltaine coloured?
I wanna be in it as well!

Maybe it's just me but I always thought that SE used Native Americans as the idea for the wickans, just like he used, the Masai of the Sahara for the Rhivi,Amazonians for the bharghast...So,I'd say, Coltain would be a tall ,dark and sort of rangy war chief . Antonio Banderas wouldn't be a bad idea.

Oh, well, if it is in a nice way, then that is alright then! I mean if you wanted to kill me in a nasty way, I might have been upset, but if this is the case...

Pardon my doubtful nature, but I find it hard to believe we wouldn't have heard news of this adaptation before now. Whether through Dros, Cadz, or sources like wotmania, I would imagine such revelant news regarding the Malazan series wouldn't have stayed secret this long.

Not that I wouldn't love this to be true, nor am I calling this Patch fellow a liar, but I personally am going to need a bit of proof to believe this, other than heresay that is.

I have it! Coltaine must be played by none other than Bruce Campbell! "Hail to the King baby".

@Monoch
Hmmm Some of my points of view. Yes I think SE could do with more recognition. But the fact is it will never become Tolkien sized. A lot of friends read Tolkien and laugh if I synopse some fantasy work. "But it has political intrique and a realistic magic system" *Sounds of snickering in the background* Tolkien is overhyped and pushed by the baby boomers into superstatus. I once got almost linched for even suggesting Tolkien wasn't that good.

Secondly If we stick with LotR, remember that awfull animated movie that was made?. No wel there was. Hollywood can bodge up a movie but if the source material is good and someone is willing to put time and effort into it a good movie can eventually still come along. It's just SE's fame will have to wait till a good adoptation of his work. There is even a Batman Beginnings in production retelling the Batman story. A bad movie by hollywood is not a deathsentence for a good book, or story.

Thirldy A good author is that: a good author. But when it comes to exciting and good visual presentation he may not know best. Sure he can tell you what his mindset was and how he envisioned it. But does this make my own visual world I created less because it is not original?. I see some coverart and it is Lightyears away from what I imagine. That's why I was asking for concept art and see if I will like the visual style.

About the fact that Hollywood is churning out unitelligent drivvel most of the time lately, Can't but agrea on that one.

And perhaps you should take some time to read the thread. Because it has been established it won't be Hollywood making the movie but to be an European and Australian production. Less American coverart *shivers* I hope.

Aussie land would probably be better for that, aye.
But I'm fairly sure we have deserts somewhere in this big freakin country of ours. I have a recollection of one is northern Saskatchewan but I'm not totally sure. Posted Image

I say go for it. You have a solid stoyline wich should be adoptable to a good movie. The inclusion of Steven in the script proces is encouraging.

Is there any chance that you are allready working on the visual style of the movie? Because if there is any kind of concept art - Which isn't top secret - I would really like to see it. Ehm. please..?

No voices in my head, I will not try and offer my services to create fanart in the vain hope I can influence the visual style of the movie.
No. I said stop it... If they need our help they will ask for it and say what we can do.

Really? I find some British and Irish accents quite attractive myself.

No sounds interesting

The LotR stuff could be at the sad points (i.e. the ending Posted Image) and a good bit of metal during the battles

COOL Posted Image
