Dont forget, Coltaine isnt that old...
The problem is, is that Chain of Dogs by itself is too long and involved. For instance, how do you explain Stormy Gesler and Truth appearing on the Silandah?

I think that whoever the actors are that get cast, they should all be really ugly. The Malazan army are all grizzly haggard looking vets who've been to hell, trudged around it twice, kicked some butt while they were there and then walked all the way back out again. They must look like sh1t and stink! No pretty boys allowed, except maybe List. Duiker and his nameless marine's brief affair isn't so much eyes-meet-across-a-crowded-battlefield stuff as it is two miserable people looking for a bit of humanity and solace before they die. She's got to be a bit of rough, she's been in the Marine's all her life and survived!

I know, but it still seems to me like Bult would grunt. I dunno why! I mean, I think he is described as being really big, so I think I just stereotyped big hard men as being grunters...

What about Morgan Freeman as Duiker? Does it actually describe Duiker anywhere in the book? As in what does he look like? I mean I personally can't remember whether he was described in the colour of his skin, but Morgan Freeman kinda sounds like he could pull it off, a wise warrior (kinda like the character he plays in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves).

Well I am actually teaching drama, and you know what they say: Those who can't, teach. And those who can't teach, teach PE.
So perhaps I can't act...

Now that must be one of the coolest things i have ever heard, i absolutely loved the Chain of dogs storyline i Dhg. It was exhilirating, frustrating, heartbreaking, and funny.... Especially the end was frustrating. I really hope you can make it happen.

there are hundreds of topics discussing possible actors for roles in a malazan film... though most of them have probably dissapeared by now... personally I can think of no actors who would fit any of the roles perfectly, but I'm sure they'll manage. It depends if it's intended to be a full scale Hollywood thing or just a low-budget job (more likely, despite the film industry's current insatiable appetite for fantasy...)

Hold up there Mezla....what's wrong with Orlando Bloom? Posted Image His Legolas was excellent I thought. What was unbearable was the elf who showed up leading the elf army to Helms Deep. Apart from the fact that IT NEVER HAPPENED IN THE BOOK, that was such a lame...camp speech!

But since you despise OB so much, how about him being Pormqual? Posted Image

Maori for Wickens? Umm they make good warriors but they arn't known for their horsemenship. Might be a struggle to find enough that can even sit on a horse in Australia. Though I guess you can do some fancy film stuff to get around that.Posted Image
