Please don't speak l33t, if you cannot speak it properly... what is c0ml3t3?
All right, I give up, and just know that I am right. I do agree, partly on one thing though... Kiera Knightly: Can't act for toffee, but PHWOAR!!!

The only negative I can think of is the ending. Seriously downbeat.
Hollywood Producer: So, they get to the end of the Chain of Dogs and they make it through, right?
SE: Uh, no...Coltaine and his men are massacred within sight of safety. Duiker gets inside the walls but is betrayed and he and most of his men get crucified...wait, come back!

Hmm just had another idea about a possible actor for the movie *drumroll* Scott Patterson!
Methinks he could do a good job at playing Bult or one of the Wickans (perhaps even Coltaine...?). What do you guys think?
And I do know I'm repeating myself, but pleeeeaaase Patch... we.. need... infos...

fine...lmao...i have heard about your collective cynicism...
...it's not a problem, really...i think i was first to read "devil delivered" as well "blood follows" and "healthy dead", and among the first to read "when she's gone" (a hockey novel which is among my favourite in all literature)...and i'm 44, not 14...and the first two film projects are 'Big Bluff' and 'Skinwalkers'...and, in fact, i have the original manuscripts for 'Memories of Ice', 'House of Chains' and 'Midnight Tides' sitting not six feet away...last hint: my first name is 'chris'
...but don't sweat it...i'll get steven to confirm it all...

Also there is nothing sad with enjoying Monty Python, arguably the best comedy ever known to man, or indeed being apreciated in a foreign country for your cool accent!

I rather like the Maori singing myself, and the Irish, they have a lovely lilting voice

Personally i think the ending of the Chain of Dogs is one of the best its in the entire storyline, and that not including it would be a big mistake, the sheer power of the final scenes in the chain of dogs are among the most powerful in the MBotF, the producers should stick with the unhappy ending, though its not without hope, duiker is ressurected, coltaine is resurrected, aren doesn't fall, to me thats enough. The bleakness is integral to the story, the producers should stick with it. plus if the end isn't included any future sequels will depart unretrievably from the other books.
@BAD
Yeah i agree the sapper scene is one of the best in the book.

Viggo'd make a good Coltaine actually...but he'd have to toughen up. Coltaine's tough bastard. The sort who'd paradoxically kill you to save your life

All the more reason why Hollywood won't/shouldn't touch it with a barge pole...no happy ending's just not their style. Frankly though, doom and gloom isn't SE either. CoD was the terrible tragedy of DG but there was hope and expectation in the other sub-plots. So extracting CoD without some future extrapolation presents a morally unattractive sphere of influence. Not sure I like that.

Yeh but the diference between LotR and MbtBF is that a LOT of people had read LotR so they were prepared to sit 3 or 2hrs and 20mins through a movie.
Where as the difference between the amount of ppl that have read LotR and Malazan is very large.
Only us Fans are really going to be prepared go through 3+hrs of movie.
Its probably best to shorten it like Patch said. It however be a good idea to do a peter jackson and release a directors or writers edition for the fans which would be half hour or and hour longer for DVD. Hopelfully anyway.
