The reviews seem mostly positive, not as great as rogue 1 though. I'm going to try and see it opening weekend although I haven't booked any tickets yet so it may be sold out.
I don't think it'll be an oscar winner but it looks like a fun action movie so I am excited. I'm looking at it as an individual movie and going to try to not compare him to Harrison Ford and just enjoy it for what it is.

friend got premier tickets for us Thursday. Premiers are always fun and I'm a little excited because I have avoided any knowledge of the film and thought it was coming in December. So its like finding free money in your winter coat. Unexpected surprise.

I think with these conditions I might enjoy it and be able to let go of the travesty that was last jedi

Honestly I don't think it's going to sell out. Possible of course because it's a SW movie but a lot of fans just aren't to gung ho to see a Han central prequel mixed with many fans hate of TLJ.

I ll be surprised if it does sell out. I suspect this is going to be the least successful box office SW to date easily. Would love to be proved wrong for sure. I ll still maintain even if I love the movie that it didn't need to be made at this time. 5-10 yrs down the line I wouldn't have cared if it was.

I think critics are at 68% but I never agree with those assholes.

I'm not so sure about that, apparently the presale tickets for Solo doubled The Black Panthers in the first 24 hours so it probably will sell out if it hasn't already. Granted it depends where you live I suppose.
Going to the first showing is always fun because you get all the serious fans who actually stay quiet during the movie, except for cheering at appropriate times. I find going later is a whole different experience since everyone has already read the reviews and goes into it with a bias.
I definitely found that with TLJ, the first time everyone was laughing at the jokes and excited at the exciting parts but when I saw it again a week later no one laughed or anything, I'm guessing since they read the reviews and the criticisms they didn't keep an open mind. When you go into it expecting bad things that's all you'll be focused on. That's why I generally try to avoid reading any reviews before seeing a movie.

Well, things are not exactly looking bright and shiny for SOLO thus far (audiences haven't really weighed in yet as it doesn't come out till Friday, but the Metecritic is sitting at 63%).

Still want to see it, but might need to temper expectations even more than I had done already.

So Maul isn't just a cameo in it...according to people who have seen it, he's being set up as the Thanos-style big bad of the Solo trilogy they've planned. I'm not sure how that squares with Han's comments in ANH about not believing in the force, or ancient weapons....when a few years earlier he's apparently spent three films defeating (defeating? not killing...) a sith warrior strong in the dark side who has a double-bladed lightsaber....I've got a bad feeling about this...I'm just not sure how it all works/fits...I'mll be happy to be wrong, as I LOVE me some Maul.

For fans of TCW this is him returning to run the crime syndicate he created there, before being ousted by Sidious and escaping.

For fans of REBELS, this is 7 years before his death at the hands of Obi-Wan on Tatooine.

I'm in for Thursday. Loved Rogue One, this looks like a similar kind of prequel. Imo the films I 'didn't need right now' were eps 7 and 8. These SW stories are way closer to what I want more of.

Suprisingly Good, def enjoyed it. There is an unfortunate change in plot direction in the final 20 min of the film when they suddenly try to fit in the workings of the possible sequels.

Movie character assassinates lando. Turns out he is a fool.

The weird retro military of the future continues with WW1 trench fighting with lasers and AT-Ts

Apparently in the future we lack the technology to heat storage containers above 30 standard degrees. Not sure what that is in English but seemed like a weird plot McGuffin

Han solo managed to shave 8 parsecs of the minimum 20 required to do the kessel run. He accomplishes this feat by using the nav computer plot the route then presses a button?

Emilia Clarke is not that good an actress

Han solo possibly helps found the rebellion. He possible than forgets about it by the time a new hope starts.

I liked Lando. He nailed it. And maybe less a fool, and more just another chancer like Solo. Loved the way he just flew off at the end after Solo wrecked his ship.

The kessel run - I was more let down by the fact they had a speed boost from fuel - not because the Falcon was fast enough?

Liked what they did with the droid though.
That black disc is clear in cockpit during the OT. And Threepio says something about it speaking a strange dialect! Probably just being rude. Glad they did something with her though as the sassy droid theme wasn't anything surprising.

Emilia isn't that great. Not awful, but shame Thandie didn't get more instead.

Loved Chewie. He looked great too; absolutely spot on - the consistancy of which has proved a problem over the movies, with Chewie and Yoda.

Alden did a good job. Some moments better than others - I thought the Solo/Lando scenes were great. There were some moments when I think we needed reminding that he was Solo though. Others, fleetingly, he could have been Ford. Can't nail them down without a rewatch but they were there.

Good to see Maul. And that guy that appears at the end with the rebels, I'm pretty sure is the same one we next see with Saw in R1.

At this point, the fact that they haven't properly announced the Obi-Wan movie and here they are announcing a damned Boba-Fett movie...I'm not sure WTF is going on at LFL, but who green lights a Boba-Fett movie before an Obi-Wan movie? Ugh.

Also, the debut of SOLO overseas is behind JUSTICE LEAGUE so far for box office...so I mean...that ain't good.

Seeing it later today. Will report back.
